Wish me luck, going for 1st fill in a few hours

Recommended Posts

I tried posting this earlier, who knows what happened. I am in a hotel now, in Louisivlle, waiting to go for my first fill tomorrow. Please tell me it'll be okay. I'm really getting scared. It's 6 days earlier that what they suggested but I called my surgeon, Dr. Sanchez and I told him my restriction was very limited and I was afraid I would gain back some of what I'd lost already and he okay'd me to go 6 days early for my first fill.

Any suggestions on what I should do before my fill tomorrow afternoon as far as eating or drinking? I sure don't want to do that Pbing right off the bat and you guys know I obcess about that. LOL

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Love you all,

:clap2:

My doc says not to eat anything 8 hours prior to fill (drinking is ok) and nothing at all 4 hours before my fill. Not sure why, I think I will ask next time. I have had 2 fills and they are not a big deal. I will admit....with my first fill, I was shaking like a leaf and then when it was done, I felt like such a ninny. I think it is fear of the unknown. Just take a deep breath........ and you will do fine. Let us know how you do. Smiles.

My doc says not to eat anything after midnight the night before. Its' the same as when you do the barium swallow. They need your tummy to be empty so they can see exactly what's going on through the flouroscope.

Don't be nervous. It's not scary at all. Just don't look at what they're doing and you'll be fine.

I posted pics, it wasn't bad at all. He sprayed this freezing cold numbing stuff instead of using a needle with lidacaine. He couldn't hit it the first couple of times so we walked over to fluro and I layed down and within a min. or so he hit it first time. My port is not where my port scar is. It's about 1 1/2 in. toward the center of my stomach. He also informed me I have the lowprofile port for which I was proud.

Good luck magical me and loving it, your next. It will be a breeze. Let me know how much fill you get. I got 1.5 but he said I could get more in 2 weeks if I need it. Yeah, Magical, we've lost about the same and surgery about the same. Let's keep in touch.

Good luck girls,

I thought getting fills were a piece of cake. My doctor is wonderful. I was told not to eat or drink for four hours before the fill is scheduled. You'll do great!

Woo hoo glad it went well for you! that means mine will hopefully go well tomorrow! I wasnt advised on any pre-fill fasting but i think i will not eat anything from about midnight and drink Water till about 3 or 4 hours before the fill! It'll be so weird as i'm going back to the same place that i had my band fitted in the first place! haha

Best wishes

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
