I'm about 5 weeks post op almost 6 now. I still can not tolerate much. My new tummy hates mashed potatoes, refried Beans, avocado, chicken, tuna, and now even my Protein Shakes. A sip in and up it comes. Im living off iced tea, strained Soup and yogurt and sick of it!!! My nut says some heal faster than others and dont get discouraged but how can I not? Im starting to feel regret. A month and a half later and I think, "will I ever eat again???" I have lost weight, yes. But is it because of the constant vomiting??? Ive already been hospitalized for dehydration because I couldnt keep fluids down. Had several infections, and now just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. Please help. The constant regret and negative thoughts are taking over.

Start all over again... Start up a liquid diet and work your way up to a soft foods, then eventually solids again. That's your best bet. Start very small and try to find out which foods agree with you...

I kno you're feeling regret but it happens, it's part of the lifestyle changing process. Like your nut said, the healing varies from individual to individual.

Keep the faith!

I couldn't stand the Protein drinks at all and so I started eating mushies a couple of weeks earlier than advised. I am now 5 weeks out and I can eat just about anything (slowly and in small amounts), As you know, you have to keep hydrated - have you tried some of the crystal lite additives, or even just a squirt of lemon in your Water? My NUT said that I was becoming "protein intolerant" and so I had to force myself to eat as much mushy stuff as I could stand - liverwurst, tuna, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. Can you drink milk ? I certainly wouldn't be concerned about keeping things low fat at this point. You need to eat!

What kind of infections did you have? Were you on antibiotics? They can really mess with the flora in your stomach. You may want to make sure you are eating live culture yogurt or take some acidolpholous supplements.

I pray that you heal quickly and that your stomach stops being so sensitive.

A lot of things you mentioned I couldn't handle eating at that point either!! Potatoes could be a bad carb for you (for a lot people bread or Pasta is) and just sits wrong. chicken is one of the hardest meats to eat because it is lean. And for some reason a lot of people have trouble with avocado.

I agree that you should take a step back for a few days, but then try introducing other foods. Try egg (either egg salad or a scrambled egg) for example works well for most. Personally, I found that slow cooked pork went down and stayed down the easiest. I could eat it and feel good after.

Also at 5 weeks, you may just not be ready for heavier, solid foods yet. Especially since you have had some setbacks. Don't get discouraged, you'll figure out what your sleeve likes and what works for you and before you know it this will be behind you.

((hugs))

I'm 8 weeks now and around my 5 week mark I started throwing up(sliming) when I ate. I'm still having that problem. I was told to get an acid reducer which it helped with nausea but not the slimy stuff. It is very frustrating. I eat things that won't be that bad coming back up. :( hopefully it get better for the both of us!

Have you have a scope done? Could be just your body adjusting or it could be a stricture or even increased swelling. I had both issues, plus a kink and a small hole in my sleeve. I was miserable for the first several months. I did not throw up until around the 5-6 week mark when I was hospitalized for nearly 2 weeks. You really should request a scope if you have not had one done yet, it will make a huge difference and if you are dealing with dehydration you will only get worse until it's taken care of. My surgeons also informed me that for some unknown reason some people have increased swelling it gets worse around the 5-7 week mark and then it just starts to let up and that is exactly how it worked for me. Once I got past that point I started to be able to eat more.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, starting over is what I'm trying to do. But its so horrible. Im just so tired of this.

As far as infections go, yes I was on antibiotics for two weeks. I just finished them. I had fevers, dehydration, a bladder infection, UTI, a bowel obstruction, and inflamation of intestines.

Its just that reading what everyone is eating 6 weeks out makes me a bit jealous and discouraged. Im still vomiting and only on full liquids :'(

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
