chyna86 17 Posted March 23, 2012 I decided not to tell too many people. Only a couple of close friends and my grandmother. Tomorrow is my fathers bday and the whole family will be going to Celebrate at a buffet. grrrreeeeaaattttttttttttt (sarcasm) I cant not attend my own fathers dinner yso i have to go but it will be tough smelling and watching everyone eat plate after plate of delicious foods that I cant have :-( Im only 9 days out and still on liquids and Jello. How do you post opers do it?!? And what can I say to stop all the snickering and speculation from family? I have cramps? stomach ache? virus?
Phoenix Rising 5 Posted March 23, 2012 I haven't told people either, so I am planning on saying that I am on a liquid diet that is really working for me and don't want to break it. It's only for another couple of weeks and will be so worth it in the end. I have been surrounded by family eating all sorts of things but it really hasn't bothered me too much as I know I just can't risk eating these things now as my sleeve is too new. Go to the party, chat all the time, and most people won't even notice. Good Luck.

And you won't be either - just make sure you take your pepcid before hand because at that stage any hunger you experience is actually reflux rearing it's ugly head. Welcome to the losers bench! Amanda 3.0 140 Posted March 23, 2012 If it were me, I would definitely have Soup if it is an option (and take a long time eating it), and then just get some tiny portions of food from the buffet. Push it around a bit and maybe make a pile and then put the plate aside after a few bites. Hopefully people are paying more attention to their own dinner than yours, but we all know that some people are just way nosy! And, you can always say you are not very hungry, because that is probably not a lie. Good luck, and I hope you have a fun time with the family!

Just chat and move the food around the plate like you are having the time of your life. Get some Jello for dessert and eat really slowly. They probably won't even notice if you are acting normal and talking to them. Have fun!
gmanbat 5,889 Posted March 23, 2012 If you don't act like your frugal eating is a big thing they will lose interest. A person's worth is not measured by their ability to consume vast quantities, unless they are from Remulac. 2 WhoozisAnyway and Amanda 3.0 reacted to this

massindex 346 Posted March 23, 2012 You know if you keep chatting and being bubbly, people will just assume that you are in a talkative mood and too busy to eat also...
Amanda 3.0 140 Posted March 23, 2012 Too bad each surgery doesn't come with a purse dog and a purse, so we can slip our restaurant food to the dog instead of explaining our eating habits!
