Kinda Feeling Down About My Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

I know everyone is differnt and will lose at a different pace. yada yada yada....

But here I am 10 days post op and I'm seeing everyone is postin losses well into the double digits! I have only lost 2 stinking pounds from my pre-op weight! 2 pounds, in 10 days right out of surgery? That seems so abnormally slow. It worries me knowing that everyone seems to hit a stall at 3 weeks. at my rate I will only lose 3 pounds before that stall happens.

I feel like this surgery has not been a success. How can I have lost only 2 pounds? I eat 3 times a day. My meal is one of the following: 1 ounce string cheese, 1/2-1 egg, 1/4-1/2 cup cottage cheese, 3 ounces yogurt. I get around 60 grams of Protein a day. I'm not up to 64 ounces of liquid a day but i always get at least 40 ounces. sometimes 50. I eat my 3 Vitamins a day.

what am I doing wrong? I'm very happy everyone else is being so successful but I'm worried at the slowness of my weight loss. This should be the time I'm losing a lot.

Walk walk walk! Also remember your body had to lose weight from all of the air and junk they put in your body during surgery. Call your NUT and tell them what you're eating and about your slow loss ( al though I think you're doing ok) maybe they'll make a suggestion and alter your intake a little. Also remember to measure yourself! I hit a stall at 2-3 week mark and I noticed my clothes we're getting looser but I wasn't losing! Have a wonderful weekend and don't let the scale control you!

And remember they pumped you full of fluids and this is a major shock to your body. Hang in there!

Hi

Everytime I up my calories I lose another 2 pounds. Also, you are almost no carbs not even just low carb.Try shaking things up with that too.Make yourself a sweetpotato mousse for a meal or just try to not eat the same things for a few days and add some carbs and calories for at least 2 days. I have put all your food data into myfitnesspaland it works out to less than 300 cal,32g Protein and 11 carbs.I presume you do drink Protein Drink to get to 60g of Proteins.

Ayhow, just shake it up a little.Do something different.dont be scared to up the cals if it really is that low....you will see it really works.there was a threat on here about this just earlier in the week..you are earting very little,no way that you wont lose weight in the end.

Good luck and letus know if it works.

xxo

thanks for the suggestions! I can't have sweet potatoes or any potatoes for the first 80 days out for some reason. I'm guessing the carb content. The only things my NUT will let me eat this week are: string cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt, cream Soups, tuna (I have not tried this yet...), fish (not tried it yet), or deli meat turkey (not tried it yet). I was trying to stick with the foods on the list that were a bit more liquidy and less bulky since I was afraid to break my staples. I do drink 2-3 Protein shakes a day too.

It seems like my NUT has progressed my diet options faster than most people. A lot of people are still on liquids only at this stage. how are they losing weight?

this is so frustrating!

after the first 7 days post op i had a similar diet plan to the one you're mentioning. I would try something different each day to see how my body would react to it. Obviously I favored some things more than others and stuck with that. If the surgeon okays it then try it and if your body doesn't respond well then take note of that. I wouldn't be afraid to try things, though, esp if your surgeon has suggested it. I had tuna about 10 days post op and fish and liquidy mashed potatoes. I agree you should try to venture and increase your caloric intake, as sometimes that will cause u to lose weight.

Is there any way you can stay away from your scale. Your body will loose weight, it is just creating more anxiety by watching the scale. I didn't even weigh myself until 3 weeks post op and that was at my surgeon's office. I couldn't remember what they told me but said I was doing fine. Then I started weighing myself at home and that created so much anxiety because my scale seemed like it had stopped moving. Now I try to only weigh myself 1 time per week, and if I weigh more I have to tell myself that I have a bounce weight going on. I even went out and bought a new scale. I ended up taking it back because my scale wasn't broken. Hand in here. THere's no way your not going to loose your weight with the little bit of food your eating. Keep it simple, you will loose weight. If your really worried, check out LilMissDiva's The Basic Boot Camp under food and nutrition. You can do this and you are doing it! Congrats! ;)

Isnt it crazy how people follow this intense low carb diet until they reach goal weight and way beyond and then when they regain weight after 2 years or so no one can understand it?I really blame the dr's and their diets for this.Thank goodness our dr have a little bit of a different approach.

When I said eat some complex veg carb ( healthy) it was just to give your body the reassurance that it is getting enough carbs now it can let go of the weight...it actually works with any low carb diet.

Anyhow, good luck and I do hope you will lose soon

xxo

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
