Encouragement Needed Please!

Recommended Posts

I am two days out from surgery, got sleeved Tuesday morning. I think I went into this thinking it was going to be a breeze! Which, so far it has not :( First night in the hospital was baddd... The gas was horrendous! I did the strips, the mylecon drops and walked the halls like crazy, but the gas remained.

Got home yesterday evening and was VERY sore, but I thought that would ease up by today, but it hadn't... I'm having some serious buyers remorse right now. Oh and I still feel that hungry/empty feeling in my tummy. I definitely have restriction cause it takes me probably 10 minutes just to get my liquid meds down.

I know I'm being whiny, but I just need to hear some encouragement from you sleeve veterans. I just feel like I can't see a light at the end of tunnel :(

This too shall pass and this will be a bad dream. I too had the gas and pain in my shoulder for almost a month. It does go away and the pain you are having will get better. Did you get any pain meds after you were discharged to take at home. I did not have to take any pain meds after I was released but they did give me some just in case. If you have some I would take it when needed but if they did not I would call your surgeon. Also they may be able to give you some medication for the gas or possibly you are having pain from the acid.

Hang in there and it does get better.

I am 7 weeks out and trust me it gets so much better. I think most people wonder what the heck they did in the beginning, I know I did. Things started to get easier for me after about 2 weeks. Now I'm into a routine and all is well. That doesn't mean I don't have days where I miss feeding my emotions with food but then I remember that's what got me here. Hang in there, everyday will get better. Does your doctor have you on a prescription anti acid? If not you should request one. Best of luck to you, I'm sending positive thoughts your way!

CONGRATS! This is the worst part of the procedure. It does get better every day. Try walking as much as you can endure. And take sips at least every view minutes. And Protein does count as a liquid. You are doing great! ;)

I FEEL your pain! I was just like you for 48 hours. I had the procedure on Friday March 9th, and it wasn't until Sunday morning march 11th, that I began to feel normal. The gas was better, but I still wasn't able to really sip anything. It took FOREVER.... BUT about the 4th or 5th day, a majority of the uncomfortable feeling went away. You may not want to walk, but truth me told, that moves that gas up or out! Also, just continue to take baby sips of Water, because you don't want to get dehydrated - that will make things even worse!

I had buyers remorse to for several days - but now.. 13 days Post Op, I feel GREAT! it really does get better - trust me. WALK, WALK, WALK.. SIP, SIP, SIP

I walked a lot after my surgery, but the best thing that seemed to help with the gas pain was a heating pad. Not sure if you have tried that already, but if not it might help =)

I also had buyers remorse... I was sleeved on March 5th! The gas pain was awful and my right side hurt like no tomorrow. I had trouble getting down meds and liquids. I got home on March 7th and basicly cried for 2 days. Feeling like I had done the wrong thing and now I'm paying for it 17 days post-op and feeling like I have so much energy and will power! At my 2 week p/o appt I was down 17lbs and feeling blessed... I think it was around day 5-7 I was feeling much better. I started taking chewable gas-x and walking as much as I could tolerate and sipping as much crystal lite as I could...

Keep your head up! You aren't alone and it will get better everyday! If you need to talk message me ;)

oh, don't feel that way.. I think the first 3 days are the worse, after that it is a breeze... seriously :) after I went home I didn't need the pain meds. I had alot of gas pains but my dr recommend me to drink prune juice and that helped me poop and gas out, lol. Ask your dr before doing so, everyone is different. Also what did hurt was my back.. the inflation they do.. like a cartoon human balloon, lol.

This surgery was the best thing I could have ever done! I am happy to have done it!!!!!!! we are here to help you get through these days.. any questions, we are here, this is your support group <3

The hard part is over. Just keep on drinking, keep on walking, keep on sucking on your little breathing toy they gave you...It will be a distant memory soon enough. And of course you feel hungry. Your stomach is empty, silly!!! Many people report the buyer's remorse. You will not feel that way when you start melting awaaaaayyyyyy........ ;)

Yes, they sent me home with liquid lortab... I tried not taking it but when I miss a dose, I start running a low grade fever, so im taking it around the clock... I was just hoping I wouldn't need it, ya know :)

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
