I am 38 yrs old, 8mo post op and just found out that I'm pregnant. How in world am I going to eat all the food I'm supposed to? The food guide says 6-11 servings of grains per day!! I think my sleeve in kinda on the small side so I still can't eat much at one sitting so I eat about every 2-3 hours. To get all the grains I'm supposed to I'd have to eat it at every "meal", which means I wouldn't have room for any thing else. Is it OK to sacrifice the grains so that I can get everything else in? I'll be able to do all the others, but only if I sacrifice the grains.

Thanks

I would still focus on your Protein first veggies next and grains last. When I was pregnant ( I was not sleeved but I was almost 300 lbs) my midwife wanted me to get in lots of Protein and veggies first and carbs and grains last. Mainly because i was trying to keep my blood pressure down. I lost 30 lbs when I was pregnant and had a very normal pregnancy considering I was morbidly obese. Just do the best you can and listen to your body it will let you know what it needs.

Women have babies everyday with poor or no nutrition. Some women don't even know they are pregnant and have totally fine pregnancies and babies. Your body will always take care of your baby first so everything it needs it will get first and whats left you will get.

Congratulations!!

Boy, you're going to have to spread a LOT of meals out over a LOT of time. Be sure to also get in the pre-natal Vitamins too.

All the best!

You should look for posts from Tiffykins, and possible friend her on Facebook. She's had one healthy pregnancy while sleeved and is pregnant again. I'd think she's definitely an expert at this point! :) You should see her daughter! What a cutie-pie!! :)

Carbs are vitally important when pregnant. Ketosis is extremely detrimental for a developing fetus. Talk with your OB/GYN and perhaps schedule a nutritionist appt. I'm sure they can help you develop the best diet for you and baby. Congratulations!

You can avoid ketosis and get carbs in by simply drinking juice instead of some of your Water.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
