I don't think that Ashly meant that her stomach was just floating free with no attachment to her intestines or esophagus. I'm guessing that her meaning was that her stomach was not naturally tacked down with fatty tissue, ligaments, filaments, whatever the heck keeps our organs in the proper position. It would give the stomach enough 'wiggle room' to get tangled up in other organs (which is the 'taking over other organs' reference, I think). But the stomach wouldn't be able to go too far bc of the esophageal and intestinal connections, which provide the blood supply.

I expect up until recently you were getting some food through the twisted and flip-floped stomach.

Wow! I'm intrigued and amazed by your story as well! My aunt's stomach is "upside down". I'm not sure how that works for her, but she's talked to my surgeon about possibly having surgery. I know that the body can do all kinds of crazy things and make us wonder how we ever lived with those things. Good luck with your sleeve journey!!

NaturalRhapsody33 hit the nail on the head. Once upon a lifetime I was a pre-med student, planning to go into research medicine. I've maintained friendships from those days and now live vicariously through my doctor friends. I'm still compelled to understand things on a physiological level. I was just trying to make sense of your description.

Since you voluntarily shared the info, I didn't see any harm in trying to understand further. If you're not open to people asking questions, it might help to state that up front; message boards are fundamentally inquisitive places.

Perhaps you explained well and everyone understood but me - certainly wouldn't be the first time - I will never claim to be the sharpest crayon in the box. Seeing others' interpretations, if they are accurate, I simply misunderstood what you were describing. I'm a very literal sort.

My organs are fairly normal. They're just fat. I don't think I could "one up" your story on my best day.

I thought I explained it well enough for everyone to understand. I am very sure I know what I had and what I've went through. I haven't had any issues with the sleeve because they reshaped my stomach and connected to were it was supposed to be. They have no idea prior to this how my food went through my body. I haven't had any leaks or anything. Everyones body is different and heals differently. I was in extremely good shape prior to having the surgery so my doctor said my body would heal differently and he didn't expect me to have any issues.

I'm sorry you don't understand what I have most people don't. My family, friends and I understand and know what I've been going through and basically that's what matters.

I just wanted to share my story not debate it or try to one up someone.

Ashley, I'll vouch for Wheetsin. On other threads, Wheetsin has asked for more details, but the request has always been for information, not for the purpose of making the original poster look bad. Sometimes Wheetsin asks questions or provides insights I hadn't even thought to have! I think that's terrific.

I really do hope your journey goes well. It's got to be a relief to know that you now have a diagnosis and are on your way to better health!
