Leederz 49 Posted March 22, 2012 So im 3 weeks post op and just wondering. Does anyone else feel tied to food? For example In the sense of I dont want to study in the library cuz I have to eat every 2 hours and I don't feel like bringing all this food. Or id rather stay home cuz its just easier to eat a spoon of Peanut Butter here then in front of people. Maybe I'm just self conscious but this is getting kind of weird for me. I don't mind bringing the shakes and making those which at school kind of is a hassle but how do you guys do it if u have a long day? For example I work 11 hr shifts, my school days are 9+ hours, and I also volunteer. How do I take all this stuff around. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
emily_0192010 168 Posted March 22, 2012 May I ask why you need to eat every 2 hours? At three weeks you are most likely still drinking at least 1 Protein shake. While you are out and about a Protein Shake is definitely the easiest but if you look around you should be able to find a really small cooler bag (meant for Snacks or children) that would fit in your purse or your backpack and you can keep a small thing of tuna salad/etc and some cheese and maybe a small yogurt in that or you could do what I call "roll ups" (a slice or two of deli meat with a slice or two of cheese with some mayo/condiment of your choice in between) and put that in there, that way you have it with you. It really is no big deal to eat a small snack in front of someone... I agree whipping out a teaspoon with Peanut Butter on it in the middle of a library would be considered odd, but you have so many different options that you can save that for your at home treat Good luck! Yorkie Fan 16 Posted March 22, 2012 I wish I had a great answer for you. I struggle with the same thing. I travel for work and many times it is international. So my suitcase ends up having more food than clothes in it. I do know when I don't take the time to plan, my food does get all messed up for the day or trip. I totally understand your feeling tied to your food. I can tell you that it does get better over time, but it takes a lot of work. My family use to call me the "food nazi" because I was so OCD about everything. I decided a therapist was in order. She has helped a ton on learning to make the best healthy choices possible for where I am. The feeling of being tied has lessoned over the last month or two. You'll figure out what works for you I promise [/quote'] Well my doc said for me to eat every 2 hours cuz I wasn't getting enough calories in I passed out the other morning. SleeveDreamer 383 Posted March 22, 2012 I can see why you need to "drink" alot most of the day so you stay hydrated and then when you get to mushies or soft foods, you should eat every three hours or so (no more than 4 oz.) and continually drink the rest of the time. You should be concentrating on Protein Shakes and mushies if he has cleared you for that. When you get to soft/solid foods, there are alot of options that are easy to take with you like cheese sticks, cottage cheese, StarKist sandwich ready albacore tuna iun a pouch that does not have to be refrigerated, hard boiled eggs, etc. But it's hard for me to understand why you would be eating real food at three weeks. I have never heard of that. Your sleeve needs time to heal before it starts taking in solid regular food. If you are on pureed foods, you can still have all the sf Jello or sf pudding or yogurt you want and those are considered full liquids.< /p> Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
