Did You Have To Get Buck Naked For The Operation? Or Could You Wear Under Ware?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if it is standard procedure to be naked for surgery or can you wear your under things? I have no problem with it if it is standard procedure' date=' if not I'd resist it, I go to Mexico tomorrow to be sleeved. So, thanks in advance...[/quote']

Isn't it funny the things we worry about:) I had to be naked on my gown for surgery with Dr Kelly. I remember be wheeled into surgery to see six very handsome men and my last thought be before being put under was "holy sh**,they are all going to see me naked!" LoL

LMAO DD! Girl, I wish that was my issue - rather, I had just started TOM, and had to wear a tampoon, and was thinking.. "please stay in.. please stay in"!!! :P

Oh no Seannie! LOL. I hope that doesn't happen to me! I'd be worried in my medicated state after surgery I'd forget it was there for a day or so! :)

They made me take everything off. I was spotting a lot around the time when I had my surgery so the nurse gave me some disposable underwear that were made out of stretchy gauze-like material. Not very comfortable but gotta do what you gotta do!

Oh, cool, I hope they have those down in Mexico.... I'll ask...thanks

This thread reminded me of one that came up a few years ago on another of Alex's WLS boards. I believe the OP was worried someone would see her lady parts if she couldn't wear underwear. Here's how I answered, nearly 5 years ago. At least I'm consistent!

No undies here. And I didn't care in the least. Underwear was the farthest thing from my mind. I mean - if I didn't mind laying there with no bra on, and my flab hanging all over the table, a naked pooty in the room with medical professionals certainly wasn't going to phase me. I mean - I have paps, and there the person is trying to look... during the surgery, any sight would be incidental.

I had to take everything off including any jewlery' date=' like wedding ring. I've also been told no nail / toe polish, and of course, no make up. I had to shower right before (which I would have no matter anyway) with an antibacterial soap! We all have to do this because we are "taking the easy way out" you know! ;-) (hope sarcasm comes through! )[/quote']

They don't want nail polish because it interferes with the O2 sensor getting an accurate reading : )

I too was nervous about being naked, but if you gotta do what you gotta do, you do it. I've even thought about cutting a whole in my undies for the cath. Haha. Like someone has said, they see it all.

As a nurse who has cathed many people and seen hundreds of naked bodies, if not thousands for surgery (lol) I promise you they all blend in and look the same after awhile!! The only things that stand out in my mind to remember is when people (a nurse actually!) have pitched a 2 year old fit over having to remove their (silky nylon burn risk) panties. If you just simply remove them and go about your business I promise you

we don't remember specifics! Unless of course you have a penis growing out of your vagina!! LOL :)

Lol at penis growing out of your vagina. That would be interesting. I had my clitoris hood pierced when I had my son via c section.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
