Worried I Feel Too Good...

Recommended Posts

Stupid huh? i am now 8 days out and I'm actually worried I am feeling too good. I just drank 8 ounces of milk in about 10 minutes tops! Should i be able to do that? I'm so used to sipping and taking a half hour or more for an 8 ounce drink it freaks me out to be able to drink one in 10 minutes. and there were no cramps or pains doing it! I took several "normal sized" swigs a couple at a time too! Gosh, it makes me worry my sleeve has a hole or something. I don't even feel full! Is this normal?

Well let me first say, only you can judge normal cause we are alllllll sooo different in recovery. However, with that said, there are plenty of people who are just like you. If you are really worried about it, call your doc. That's what they want you to do. But I had a magic moment like that at one point and there are a lot of people on here who ask that same question "I shouldn't be able to drink this right? or eat this much?" Your body will let you know. If you had a leak/hole, you would learn about it quickly. You would probably start getting a fever, feel sick, have pain in your side. My doc told me that "if you get a leak...you will know it!" So just go by what your body is telling you and right now it sounds like its saying "I'm thirsty!!!!" :)

I feel the same. I feltl like i was able to gobble down a lot of Water 1st week out. I even asked myself the same question. I didnt feel any pain or discomfort at all. Everyone will react differently. Currently 1month & 1wk out and i can finish 16oz water bottle in about 30mins. :)

I was able to drink pretty fast. I also felt good from the 2nd day post-op. Don't sweat it. You're one of the lucky ones.

liquid go through MUCH easier than solids will later. I doubt you have a leak unless you are running a fever or vomiting every time you drink. Yes, please call your doctor, but I'm sure you aren't feeling restriction because you are only drinking liquids.

Be careful though. It's easy to drink right now, partially because your stomach is still swollen inside. This early post-op, most of your nerves are numb. You can easily over fill your stomach without feeling it because of that numbness. We are given restrictions on how much to eat or drink at a time because our sleeve can't send out normal signals.

Me too, I have no problems drinking anything. I am hoping that the restriction is really felt when I eat! I did tease my surgeon about being a "placebo" surgery patient! I will find out Monday when I start mushies.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
