Should I be able to drink a whole cup of broth in about 15 minutes,no problem?

Hi Desertmom!

My surgery was on March 12, 2012 and today is the first day I feel pretty normal besides being a little sore. I have no problems drinking liquids or broth. They are all going down with no resistance.I had 3/4 can Tomato basil Soup last night for supper with no problem but it did fill me up very well. I also can do Jello, puddings, yogarts and cream of wheat. Already had chocalate milk this am and now having hot peppermint tea.

Let me know if you have anymore questions since our dates are close.

Good Luck!

I have tried and did some but I'm not a milk drinker and have a hard time even thinking about it. lol I do do greek yogart which is high in Protein. It will be easier on me after week 3 when I can do soft foods and get my protein in with food.< /em>

desertmom-- Hilarious, I just posted a similar question! I am 8 days out today and just drank an 8 ounce glass of milk in 10 minutes! I was horrified! Seemed like I shouldn't be able to do that! I wansn't even "full"

I too was sleeved on March 12. I also ave no trouble getting my liquids in. I am very comfortable eating puddings and applesauce so I am just hoping that once solids come in to play I will get that " full feeling". it's a bit scary that I am ok with everything so far.

I get my protein with smoothie King Gladiator Protein powder in choc. I throw a dash of 1% milk and then mostly ice, and a tablespoon of pb and blend it up like crazy ....its soooo good. I drink half in the morning (1 scoop) and the other in the evening which gives me about 50 grams of protein.

I had my revision to sleeve on the 16th I am unable to get all of my Fluid in. It takes me nearly four hours to drink half a Protein Shake and I am beyond full and feel nauseated. I'm scared!! I need to be able to drink without a syringe

I had surgery on 3/12 and I can only drink about 20 oz a day and can only eat about 2 - 3 teaspoons of mashed potatoes. I have felt awful since surgery but they can't find what's wrong.

What did your surgeon say? Did you get the CT done?

I had my sleeve done on 2/17

This is my routine:

Morning 17oz Eas Myoplex. 300cal

5.5oz V8 30cal

Total time to complete 1 hour

45-60 min break inbetween

lunch One fish filet around 4oz 130cal

Total time 3 hours

45-60 min break inbetween

dinner One fish filet 4oz 130 cal

Total time 3 hours.

590cal/day average

Notice no Water inbetween. After 1 hour after my last meal Thats when I get my Water in. Usually a 20oz bottle which takes me an hour to drink.

Did I tell you that food sucks. I really hate to eat now. Maybe my doc put the ringer on me cause I did it for my job cause he knew I had no choice.

Your job made you do this?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
