I'm so weak. Is this normal? Up until today I have been getting about 50 grams of Protein and 48 oz of Water. Today, I felt so bad (achy and weak) that I could barely get down 1 Protein Shake and only 32 oz of water. I have no fever and no pain. I just feel soooooo weak. Anyone experience this? Is this normal? How long will it last? I'm praying I feel better tomorrow, but would love some reassurance and any tips.

Hi,I know it is already tomorrow so you might be feeling a little better again.

Yesterday was also 1 week for me and on and off I am full of aches and paina ( different ones all the time) and at times I am super tired.

Unlike you I cannot stomach the Protein drinks. You are doing great with that.Try a little more fluids and rest when you feel weak...go for a nap,it might just really change how you feel.

It will still take a while to feel like our new old selves...LOL

xxo

I was very fatigued during my first 3 to 4 weeks. I needed mid-day naps to 'recharge' myself. How far along are you? I hope you start feeling better soon!

Being tire and fatigued is very normal you probably want to try and stomach more Protein, or broth or just something else to give you a little more energy. Hang in there!

Totally normal. I was a zombie my first 6 wks, took naps everyday! We are not getting very many calories so we dont have much fuel for our bodies. Let alone the trauma your body went thru. It gets better. Count your 1st month post op as recovery.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm drinking Protein drinks from my surgeon and I get about 27 grams of Protein from each shake.

27g is a good number. The protein mix that I use gives only 19g a sachet. I dont have many options for Protein Drinks where I live so I'm stuck with mine. So I'm taking 2 sachets a day. Make sure you consume the required protein

Also, has your doc prescribed you any medicine for anything? Make sure you take the meds regularly. I was very irregular with my meds in the beginning and let me tell you -- the body immediately retaliates like an angry snake!

Take care of your body and all the best for a speedy recovery!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
