I know the feelings you are having. I had a revision surgery from my lap band to the sleeve last year. When they went to remove my band, they were going to do the revision at the same time if possible. I can tell you that prior to having my band removed, I prayed that they couldn't do the sleeve! They actually were hooking me up to everything in the OR at that time. I was just sure that if God wanted me to try it on my own again, I would wake up without a sleeve. Well, when I woke up they were not able to do my sleeve because of damage. I was very relieved!

However, over the next 2 months I gained 40 pounds. I quickly realized that God was actually showing me that it was ok to have the surgery. I had my sleeve in June 2011. I absolutley love it! I am so glad that I did it and where my sleeve and I have gotten to this point.

I wish you lots of luck!

Nichole

Commenting on the hair stuff, I am 3 months out and just waiting for the Hair loss to start. I am prepared mentally for it, and MOST of my hair is quite thick, but I am thinner right up in front because of PCOS hair pattern issues. One thing my NUT told me is do NOT avoid washing your hair -- this only makes it worse, actually. You think it will make it better, but as a PP said, the hair is going to come out anyway, so keep your scalp healthy with whatever your normal washing schedule is.

Hair loss doesn't occur for everyone especially if you're taking in all the proper Vitamins and nutrients on top of everything else your surgeon and nut recommends

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
