Trying To Keep Positive

Recommended Posts

I'm having issues as I'm losing weight..the sagging skin on my stomach and arms look horrible. I'm doing crunches for my tummy and weights for the arms..I'm just not seeing myself in a positive way and I'm working so hard at it. Nothing seems to be lifting. My body looks like it's melting..literally. I can't say I would want to sport short tops, bikinis,,lingerie or anything that would show my stomach or arms. I know it's about my health but I think mentally it's having an effect on me. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to afford surgery to fix this. Does anyone else feel this way?

Well, unfortuantly, this is a problem with many ppl who have lost a vast amount of weight, there are variables in how much your skin will go back to normal, age can play a factor, how long you've been overweight?, and how much weight you have lost. Althought excersize is awesome for you, and keep doing it, you need excersize to keep your bones strong as you lose the fat that's supporting your bones now.

Sometimes the only alternative may be surgery to get rid of the excess skin. All depends on how you feel about it, and if you're embarrassed by the excess skin to a point of not wanting to expose those area's that are now sagging. I know surgery can be expensive.......and that's a choice only you can make......

my opinion, If I've done all I can do via excersize, and it's just not working....I'd go the extra $$ to give me the complete look I'm trying to acheive, and to feel confident in my looks when I

m out in public.

besides.....YOU DESERVE IT! YOU HAVE WORKED HARD FOR THIS!

Today I looked down at my arm that is resting on a pillow, and I seen this winkled area of my arm and am I thinking how gross it looks. After thinking about it, I'd rather see the skin than the excess fat! i will go the extra mile and get plastics if needed. ;)

Yes, I feel the same way. I've only lost forty pounds but it's enough to show the flab. I was obese only for the last 6-7 years, the majority of my life I was fit and athletic. I was really hoping my skin would bounce back. Today was the first day I've been shopping as I desperately need new undies, and looking in the mirror was just disgusting. I walked out without buying anything because I didn't want to look at my body anymore. I've also felt very ugly in general. My husband and I had sex for the first time in almost a month the other night and I could only think how ugly my body must look. My boobs are so flabby my nipples are close to my belly button or under my arms!

I hope someone has some good advice for you, I could use the same encouragement :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
