RMS 64 Posted March 21, 2012 Hi, I have to use a pad everyday for Incontinence when I laugh or cough. What should I do on my surgery date? anyone else have this issue? Thanks
Malyss 31 Posted March 21, 2012 Some surgeons have their patients put on catheters for the surgery. I'm guessing that if your surgeon has you catheterized, then you would likely not have to worry about the incontinence issue. It might be best to bring up the topic with your surgeon. Meli01 53 Posted March 21, 2012 I don't know what your surgeon will do, but with mine I was not allowed to drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. They made me try to go the bathroom multiple times the morning of my surgery to make sure I got everything out.
Jack Fabulous 35 Posted March 21, 2012 I'd check with the surgeon. My guess is that they will give you a catheter. You won't be able to pee for a day or two after surgery anyway because of the anesthesia. At least that was my experience.

JaspersGirl 147 Posted March 21, 2012 I am 32 and never had incont. problem but still catheterized... most docs catheterize their patients from what I read
teamthin 7 Posted March 21, 2012 I didn't wear any panties into surgery and I woke up with a catheter and I thought I wasn't getting one. Oh the horror! Lol
Shape_Shifter 83 Posted July 8, 2012 Didmyou know your urologist can prescribe a drug so you don't need pads? It's amazing!! What are the side effects? I was told the medicine can interfere with **ahem** orgasims (sorry for TMI). mine isn't too bad but its getting worse. hopeing it will lessen after surgery but unwilling to give up one of the few good things in my life....lmao
Katie713 423 Posted July 8, 2012 They catherize you once you are put under. They took mine out a few hours after surgery so I could start walking, then I was able to walk to the bathroom myself. I had to use the bathroom alot...that IV is constant Fluid entering your body. After they remove the catheter you are free to put on your underwear and a pad if you choose to.
