AngieG0410 52 Posted March 20, 2012 Dr says I need an EGD. He said they don't put you totally out, but that I won't know what is going on. Please tell me I am not going to know they are jamming a scope down my throat!!! Did you know what was going on??
favoredone 590 Posted March 20, 2012 No you won't know... Trust me.. I am one of the most "pain sensitive" people I know... They have you start swallowing the scope while you're going under.. and before you know it.. it's over and you're awake!!
Liberated Sleeve 148 Posted March 20, 2012 I was out, not remember any of it! The only thing I remember was they put something in my mouth to protect my teeth and then I was gone.
change 22 Posted March 20, 2012 I just had one done two weeks ago and it was painless!! All I remember is the same thing as liberated sleeve. They put something in my mouth to protect my teeth and next thing you know I was waking up and it was all done. You will be fine!

Capt Kirk 2 Posted March 20, 2012 I had it done last week (my 2nd one) and I did NOT enjoy it. I was partially out, but obviously not enough, because I could feel myself heaving uncontrollably, but nothing I could do about it. Afterwards, I was told I threw up multiple times... favoredone 590 Posted March 21, 2012 Sounds like you needed more meds!!! Wow! Sorry you guys had to go through that!
Jjen 10 Posted March 21, 2012 I'm a GI Tech & have had an EGD, you should go to a doc that uses an anesthesiologist instead of a councious sudation nurse to give meds. With anesthesiologist there's no reason you should be awake or rember anything.
