Carly 56 Posted March 20, 2012 Went for my consult and to confirm April 1st as my date. Getting really nervous. I am a bit worried because everyone I have read about says they had a leak test, and when I asked about it, she told me they don't do one. She said if there were to be a leak, the first two days would be too early for it. She said it was important to monitor for symptoms and follow up immediately if there are any. Has anyone ever hear of not having a leak test?
Caradina 65 Posted March 20, 2012 My research shows it at about 50/50. The reason is that if there is a leak, the stomach may be too swollen to show it until later on. It's just a doctors preference.

Miss Pea 0 Posted March 20, 2012 My doctor is known as being the best surgeon in my city - over 500 sleeves and zero leaks so far, and he doesn't do a leak test. He keeps you in hospital for three nights after surgery and if you are well with no fever by day three you're in the clear. Monitoring your well being at home is important but I don't think the leak test is imperative (or very pleasant from the sounds of it, so maybe just be grateful you don't have to have one!) Carly 56 Posted March 21, 2012 Thank Miss Pea, I am glad to hear that. I hope to God it doesn't happen, but I guess we all just have to be vigilant.
