I would be wary of diet pills, a lot of them contain caffeine which most docs say is a no-no for quite some time!

On the HCG note, I too am cautious to use something like that. I think I would try something more natural first. Injectables freak me out a little bit!

so i go to pharmacy and asj fir HCG?

is it its trade name?

In your country you may be able to pick up human chrionic gonadotropin straight from a pharmacy. It is an injectable through an insulin syringe and it has to be reconstituted with bariostatic Water prior to use and once reconstituted it only has a shelf life of 28 days.

It works for weightloss but you still have to follow the high protei/low carb diet to maximize its full potential. If you dont do it right it the weight does rebound. But since were sleeved, rebounding might not play a big part. Its worth a shot if your getting the real product. Imho

No ma'am. If you dont eat right after you will regain some of the weight back. Side effects are minimal according to my Doctor.

I am in the medical field and the HGC diet does not work......it is the 500 calorie that makes u lose weight.

I did the HCG shots a year before surgery (prescribed by a doctor) and I ended up losing 40-50 lbs. I also ended up gaining that back and then some but it was because I didn't stick to the diet. I think its the diet and the shots that work. It's hard to explain but you ate more than 500 calories but with the Protein added in it was like that's all your body would count because it takes more calories to burn protein. Sorry if this sounds confusing but that's the best way I can think to describe it. I would talk to your doc before taking this and I would only do the injections if they're prescribed by a licensed physician.

oh also, you're supposed to take the shots for a couple months and then go off of them for a couple months so your body doesn't get immune to then. I didn't do this and that was probably another reason for the weight gain.

No hormones or chemicals to confuse and screw up my metabolism thanks. I went through this surgery because I wanted to eat healthy. Fooling especially with hormone levels is not someplace I'd want to go.

Phentermine raises blood pressure. It's basically "speed."

Ephedrine can be deadly.

Is everyone in this much of a hurry?

Well. I'll chime in again. Read the bottle or box of nearly any diet product and it will recommend a proper diet and exercise along with the product - which is what you would lose the weight from in the first place. A lot of diet stuff even go as far as supply you with dietetic plans and exercise routines to follow.

The day a REAL moderately priced diet pill that works without dreadful side effects without changing your dietetic practices by sheer will be the day that obesity has met it's match and someone is going to be a BILLIONAIRE over night. HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of products have come and gone, some with disastrous consequences for those using it.

Now a word for what this forum is REALLY about.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sleeve is different. It's a tool that works by limiting the SIZE of the possible intake as well as removing some of the ghrelin producing stomach lining that CAUSES hunger. It too WILL NOT WORK if you keep eating and eating and not curbing your appetite. When asked what I did to lose weight I start out saying "diet and exercise AND I had a small operation to help me". I lost the weight by eating less and burning off more. The sleeve didn't magically melt the fat away - I DID. It's a tool, not a miracle (although some would still classify it as just that).
Try the pills, shots and what have you. If they work then GOOD FOR YOU! You've beat the number one killer in most of the world today. If not then maybe it's time to talk about WLS.
      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
