Delaware Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! I'm still pre-op...finishing up my nutrition classes (April & May) & two more clearances (both scheduled for early April). I should be eligible for my surgery in May, but I will wait until June. Hopefully, there won't be any issues with my insurance approval...

Oh, my surgeon is Dr. Peters.

HI Little Bits! I got my surgery date today - April 16th. I have been a voyeour to this site for a while, but finding a fellow Delawarean made me join today! My surgeon is also Dr. Peters. He is wonderful!

I agree! I was initially suppose to meet with Dr. Irigau. He had an emergency & I ended up meeting Dr. Peters. I'm so happy because I was going to get lapband & he changed my mind!!!

I had originally thought lapband, but my nutritionist thought the sleeve had better results. The countdown begins! What is your timeframe for surgery/classes etc?

Oh, I got so excited about finding a fellow Delawarean that I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I have two more nutrition classes (April & May). My insurance required 6 months worth of classes. I also have two clearances, both scheduled the 2nd week in April. I should get my actual date soon, probably in May. However, if possible, I plan to schedule my surgery in June.

I'm glad that you decided to join. I joined in January; however, I just got the nerve to put a picture on Saturday...

I wish you the best on your remaining appointments. The final scheduling will be here before you know it. I have been on the fence about this, but a friend of mine summed it up best...she said... you're killing yourself for minimal weight loss, how hard is it going to be when you're older. I'm 45 and have been kicking my butt at the gym . I've lost inches, but not much weight and we all know we focus on the scale. I'm ready for this... (I think :))

Thank you...good luck to you as well! I'm 36 & have a lot of medical stuff going on, so I have to get the weight off asap. Please keep me posted on your progress. Hopefully, we can motivate each other. By the way, I'm Tywania.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
