Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so my goal was to get to 269 by August 5. Well, today I am 268.5. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. My next goal it to make it to 259 by September 5. Ultimately, I would love to make it to 255 by September 2nd. My birthday. I also realized today that I only have 17 more pounds to lose to make it to the half-way point. That will leave me 116.5 more pounds to go. Daunting to some, I know, but to me, very doable considering where I have come from and how far I have come. Let's make August a super month for all and my congrats to all of you no matter the number of pounds. Every ounce counts!!! Cheers everyone! :)

I'm 268.4 myself and stared at 346 and 330 on the day of surgery. I hope to at least be 208 by December. That would be awesome! and congrats on your 100 lbs lost!

Surgery 4-10-12 and today I weighed myself again on the wii fit like I normally do and I got the best news!!!! I'm overweight and not obese, or morbidly obese!!!! I'm moving down the scale! That news to skinny people probably doesn't make any sense, but I am thrilled! I lost three lbs since last time I weighed myself and I went on vacation! I have been blessed!

Watching this thread over the past few months has been interesting. First we were nervous, scared excited, to happy life changed people! What a transition! Great job everyone!

I, too, am so proud of everyone. Seeing the scale move has been validation of what is happening, but I think we should all also focus on the other improvements in our life that may not be directly reflected on the scale.

  • I feel so good now, it scares the hell out of me.
  • I don't hurt and ache all over all the time.
  • I don't spend my life wasting away on the couch anymore.
  • I have stopped being an observer and started being a participant in life
  • I went to the movie for the first time since my surgery last week and I fit in the chair with some room to spare.
  • I no longer have to wait in public restrooms for the handicap stall to become available.
  • I found other things in life to derive pleasure from rather than food--playing in the pool with my kids, walking aimlessly around the mall or Wal mart for hours for no reason other than spending time with my friends or family.
  • I can volunteer for activities at school without fear or shame.

All of this has happened in just over 3 months! Never did I think so much wonderful-ness would come in such a short time of being sleeved. Like I said--the scale tells one story, but when it doesn't, reflect back to your life before you were sleeved and now, I'm sure you can find some things that validate your success.

I can't agree with you more. I needed to hear that. I have been in a stall for 2 wks and it is easy to forgot all the things I couldn't do before.....

  • Not on any medication for diabetics
  • Not be scared or ashamed to go out there and do Zumba
  • Wearing clothes that fit my body and not hide behind the clothes
  • Not having to ask for a table when going to a resturant because I don't fit in a booth

I know that my life continues to change for the better. We all are doing great in our personal jorneys and should be very proud of ourselves

It feels so good to be on the path toward health instead of how it used to be, always wishing and hoping for something to change. I can't tell you how many seasons of The Biggest Loser I watched hoping that it might stimulate me to get my own situation under control. Shopping for the biggest sizes and always hoping they would adequately cover up my problem areas. Now, as I pitch those items into the bags for donation, I can reflect on my success thus far...I am doing this.

Bravo to all my fellow April losers!

Those are all great positives of this surgery! I love coming here every day and seeing how well we are doing!

Some of my non scale positives are;

I now fit in all the "small" clothes that were hiding in my closet (down from 24w to 18 )

I can buy clothes in an old navy store instead of ordering from plus selection online.

I fit in my wedding dress - this is a big one since it didn't fit when I bought it and i need to wear it saturday. It's got to be the smallest 4x I've ever seen. More like a 1x lol

I feel a lot better about myself! And people are noticing the weight loss. No one can believe I still weigh 215.

guess that's one advantage of being tall lol

So happy to hear of all the successes! I was sleeved 4-24. Lost 32 lbs to date but I have been pretty sick. Lots of vomiting. They finally pinned it down. I have a hyperactive gallbladder. It is rare and most doctors do not find it. Mine dumps bile too fast and is making me sick. My WL surgeon is amazing! He found it and I am having surgery on Wednesday. Not thrilled about another surgery slowing down my new found love of working out but I am looking forward to feeling better! I did hit 189 this week so while my loss is slow and I am uncomfortable, I am so incredibly happy and Blessed. If anyone else is vomiting frequently and as soon as food hits the stomach look into it.

April 27th here and doing great!

Down 55.3 lbs post op and 16 lbs pre op. So that's 71.3 lbs total. My shirt size before was a 30/32 and now it's between a 1x or a size 22. My pants were a 26 and now they're a 20 and even those are becoming a smidgen to loose. I keep fluctuating 3-4 lbs but I believe that's due to TOM.. I'd like to see more pounds dropped but when I think about it 55 lbs in 3 months is holy craptastic amazing!! lol I have to constantly remind myself of this...lol

We have the same surgery date. Down 48# total

I have been losing about 2# a week now. So definitely a lot less than I was losing at first. I haven't checked on ketosis but I eat more than 60g of carbs a day so probably not.

And have been getting hit on daily (I love attention lol). I just had to share it with people who understand. Hope everyone else is having an outstanding week

Feeling fabulous & loving the new lease on life I have now. Achieved another one of my reasons for having his surgery last night, a wonder NSV. Attended Open House at my daughter's school for the first time in 2 years--I hadn't gone since I couldn't fit in the desks last time and had difficulty climbing the stairs and running around the building from class-to-class. Not only did I fit into the desks, but I lapped lots of parents running from one side of the school to the other. What a joyful moment when I realized what was going on!!! :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
