ilikenu 18 Posted May 19, 2012 My surgery was April 17 and I've lost about 21 pounds...but I've hit a stall! I feel like the pounds are coming off slowly, but I've dropped a couple of sizes and have been off insulin and the other diabetic drugs since day one. At endocrinologist today: A1C is 6.7 and cholesterol is 163. I'll take it! 3 Musharooni, healthiermeat40 and kiki19 reacted to this
CrazyCatLady 130 Posted May 19, 2012 Surgery was April 16th, and I'm down 42lbs....but no one can tell! Gah, I feel like a real Fatty McFatterson right now!
hellonurse 76 Posted May 19, 2012 I had a really bad stall already at week 2!! I could not get out of Twoterville for anything, I thought I was gonna go nuts But then it hit week 3, and then 4 pounds came off, letting me into Onderland!! So happy, lost major inches during the stall though!! So I wasn't too bummed, just anxious to see 100's on the scale, and bye bye 200's Sent from my iPhone using VST 4 jazzie, arj1016, vsg30815 and 1 other reacted to this
Musharooni 62 Posted May 19, 2012 Yesterday marked one month since surgery and today total weight loss (including pre-op) is 44.8. My 50# reward is getting closer! Yesterday, I walked a 1/2 a mile at work as part of a wellness event--something I wouldn't have even considered participating in a month ago.
destined_dva 20 Posted May 19, 2012 Whoop whoop! My stall is over (please let it be over). I came out of my two week stall loosing 5.6 lbs! My numbers so far are 80.2 from my highest 69.2 since preop and 41.2 gone since surgery date six weeks ago. I'm so thankful for this surgery and this site. kiki19 16 Posted May 20, 2012 Yes. Saturday I went to a gathering and there were so many foods. I took fruit and a really good friend of mine made salmon. I ate the salmon. I just chewed it to mush and ate very slowly. It was very moist so by the time it went down, it was no different than if I had blended it in the magic bullet. I also ate some melon. Chewed it to death also. It tasted great and sat well in my sleeve. The extra fluids from the melon was a plus as well. Yes, I know the fruit has sugar in it, but at least it is natural sugar. I am one of the rare ones (I think) that does not want to be in a state of ketosis. I don't want to start burning muscle and my doctor does not want me in that state either. Am I the only one who feels this way or whose doctor feels this way? I know my loss will be a bit slower, but I just don't see any health benefits to losing muscle. My mother did a high Protein diet way back when. She ended up burning muscle on her lower arms and she has never been able to get it back. Her arms are flat and not attractive at all because of this. I would love to hear from others on this issue. Don't worry about offending me. I really am curious about what others think or are being told about this issue from their health care teams. Thanks much in advance and Jimmy, I am ok with whatever anyone else eats around me. I find I don't crave what they are eating. Most of the junk food stuff - Cookies, chips, popcorn (which someone made here at work in the microwave just yesterday - smelled wonderful, but I had no desire to eat it) just does not appeal to me. I miss fruit and veggies at this point. I was a big salad eater. That is what has gotten to me... no salads I just finished a nutrition course at our local college...made an A...but a healthy, well-balanced diet is the way to go for a lifetime...high protein diets are hard on your kidneys. I do understand, though, when you can only eat small portions of food, protein ought to be your go-to food. So I am a firm believer in fish or some other protein choice, followed by vegetables, followed by fruit. Your brain has to have glucose, and the breakdown of fat just doesn't do the job like a little carb...just make sure you choose healthy carbs, sweet potatoes, instead of white, whole grain wild rice instead of brown or white. I found a good book called the Hilton Head over-35 metabolism diet. It has really good recipes and menus that are really good and it fits in perfect for our sleeve. I bought my copy on Amazon. I diet analyzed it, and it is like a perfect diet...the portions are just tiny...just right for us sleevers. 1 arj1016 reacted to this

kiki19 16 Posted May 20, 2012 I had a stall for 2 weeks. i thought my sleeve stopped working and all of a sudden i woke up (after 3 days of walking) i lost 2lbs and the day after another 2lbs I have been stalled about 10 days...everytime I get on the scale, it is exactly the same...no matter how much Water I drank, how little food, how much food...it is really starting to get on my nerves...I feel like I should be down another ten pounds...I keep thinking, I hope this is not it...what am I doing wrong? I start a good exercise program tomorrow...Tuesday is my 6-week post-op day...I would like to show a loss...that means it will be almost two weeks at the same weight. legal loser 77 Posted May 20, 2012 Surgery on April 24th. Attended Nashville's Iroquois Steeplechase just 2.5 weeks later on May 12, 2012. Loving that even that close after surgery, I'm still able to live life even with diet restrictions. Down about 28 pounds since my pre-op appointment March 28th. 1 Musharooni reacted to this
