Post Ops: After The Two Years Is The Size Of Food The "normal Size?"

Recommended Posts

The stomach contracting the other day with the tuna salad was difficult to describe, it is like the stomach is shuddering around the food and it definitely feels like a warning to not eat another bite and just back off.

This is a great and interesting thread! I think that the amount you can eat at a sitting two years out is going to be something we want to explore. It is obvious our sleeves adapt and can handle eating more. It is scary but good if you consume the right foods. I am only 7 weeks out and I already have learned about slider foods. I ate some wheat thins with tuna and I realized I ate far too many wheat thins. Those sliders realy can sabotage weight loss! I have to only grab a couple now because if I bring more I can eat them. Pretty scary! I know what everyone means about slider foods being dangerous to weight loss.

Sometimes, I feel like a weirdo on here.... I can definitely eat more than my sleeved friends. At one year out, I can eat a normal portion of food. I can eat about 5 oz. of Protein, a normal serving (not restaurant size) of veggies and probably a half to full serving of starch. If we are talking bad food choices, I can eat a small burger and most of a small fries. I can easily eat two slices of pizza.

Honestly, the amount I can eat scares me as I have 30 lbs. to go. I lost weight so quickly early on that I failed to learn some of the good habits that are natural to others. I'm now having to teach myself not to drink with meals, always eat Protein first, etc.

Just another perspective...

I'm more than 1.5 years out and no, I still can't eat a full meal anywhere. Even at restaurants that serve "normal" portions. So I doubt you will ever be able to eat what would be considered a full-sized meal.

I don't have a pizza Hut here. The size of pizza is a thin crust regular pizza.

Oh ok. I'm in NYC, and for whatever reason, I think our portions might be bigger. I dunno. Nom nom nom. Ugh, now I'm more hungry.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
