I hope you decide that the sleeve is the best thing for you. I would encourage anyone young or old to look into the sleeve, it has truly been a blessing to me. I have had no complications from it what so ever. I didn't tell anyone except my husband and children about my surgery, I just didn't want to hear all their stories, I did my own research and made up my own mind. I have seen people the past 6 months or so and they always comment about how much weight I have lost. I go out for dinner and just order what ever I like and stop eating when I am full, honestly nobody really notices houw much you don't eat if you don't make a big deal about it. I have only had one person comment on the little bit of food that I eat and it was my mother in law who came to visit and STAYED with us, but she didn't even notice for the first week that she was here. I do like the fact that when you are out you can concentrate on the people and the food is secondary that is a huge plus for me. I know that you will choose what is best for you and believe me it is not the "easy way out" your whole life is ahead of you and you will be a much healthier person for it.

I appreciate everyone's responses as much as the original poster! I am hitting a wall over the Hair loss thing. It's making me reconsider because I already have such thin hair! Reading all of these positive things gives me more confidence.

I had a horrible dream last night, I dreamt that I had globs of hair falling out in my hand on my left side. Went to the hairdresser and some lady told me that someone in my other half of my family was going to die. WTH? I have never heard that before. Has anyone else?

Recently I decided not to tell anyone other than my family about getting the sleeve because I got tired of people telling me that's the easy way out and how many complications come with that surgery. HELP!!! I'm having second thoughts about the surgery for these reasons even though at the beginning I felt like it was a dream come true. I'm really scared because of complications and all these negative thoughts. Can anyone help me on this???

I didn't tell anyone except for the people who would be directly, you know, impacted; my husband and mother and one friend, but I didn't tell anybody else because I didn't want to have that conversation about complications, that it's an easy way out you know your whole life can change...I understood those things..you know I don't think anybody wanted to have a conversation about all of the complications with obesity which are far greater. So it really just wasn't a conversation i wanted to have everyday. Now that I've had the surgery obviously I can't get away with saying I had a bad case of dysentery but I think that, you know, I don't have to have that conversation and I can just discuss why and maybe encourage other people to lose weight. The people in my life are eating healthier now because of what I've gone through.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
