Lightweights..how Long Before You Really Saw A Big Change?

Recommended Posts

Hey there lightweights. I know the weight loss is slower, It is a bit discouraging but I'm sticking with it. I am a month and a half out and have some weight loss but it's not a big enough change to really make it noticable yet. My clothes are fitting looser and I look a bit slimmer but nothing dramatic yet. How long before you went down a couple of pant sizes or lost enough to know you were really on the way to the newer, slimmer you?

I'm 11 weeks out, I've lost 43 pounds and 2 sizes in tops and 1 size in pants. I had some complications so 13 pounds of that, I had to lose twice. I can do fast paced walking..haven't done in years. I'm sleeping better, more motivated,,etc. You have to look at the little things,,the nsv's (non scale victories) How much have you lost? If your clothes are fitting looser, you are probably losing inches!

I'm excited to hear from the lightweights, too. I'm a band patient, and I'm having a revision to a sleeve in 9 days. I got down to about 155 w/ my band (about 10 lbs above my ultimate goal), but since my band is now not functioning, I weigh about 195.

Good question I'm 6 wk out tomorrow. I'm 5' and started at 202 now down to 178. 7 was during pre op diet. I feel like I'm losing soooo slow but that's to he expected being a low BMI "light weight" haha doesn't feel like it! I would also love to hear similar sz and wt success stories and how long it took to actually get the weight off.

I am 10 weeks out tomorrow and have lost just over 28 lbs. I started in a size 18 and can now fit in a 14. I was stalled for 3 weeks and it was during that stall that I started dropping sizes. I am losing slower than I expected, but I am learning to be patient. It is definitely working and the good news is that this time the weight will not ever return. I can tell this will be a permanent solution.

When I was about 4 months out I stalled on the scale, but, I had to start buying clothes. In the fourth month now going on to fifth I have gone from a loose 12 to a tight 2 in jeans. I wore my abercrombie size 6L jeans twice before I got baggy butt and had to give them away. The scale has only moved 6 lbs during this time.

Your telling me! I started buying my jeans at consignment stores so I don't break the bank. I also buy the next size down so I have something on hand.

Please realize that every body shape is different. If I looked at all these size 2 and 4 people I would definately be depressed. I am 5'6" and was 240 on surgery day and wore an 18W. I have lost 72 lbs and am just now wearing a size 14. Even when I was 20 years old and weighed 135, I wore a size 11. I have 28 lbs to go until my goal weight and I don't know if I will ever be a size 2, 4, or 6. I may end up a size 10 or 12, but I am happy with that. Be content with how you feel in your body. To me, size 14 looks so small right now.

I agree ereneeh, everyone is different. I am at 165 and wear a size 9/10. I don't even know what a 2 looks like and in my younger days at 135 I only wore a 6/8. I'm 5'7" so i guess body type and height makes a big difference. I think different brands are sized different too. I would like to drop another 15 or 20 lbs but don't really care if I do or not, I feel great and am told every day that I look good. I am just so much happier than where I started.

Other people started to notice my loss at about 3 months, when I had lost about 40 lbs. I noticed a big change at about 60 lbs--I started to like how I looked, my legs were thinner, my hips and waist were smaller, and I totally skipped size 12, went from a 14 to a 10. I, too, bought at thrift stores because I didn't want to buy clothes that I would wear for only a couple of weeks.

Great post. I started at 239 and am .8lbs away from 199, so just about 40 lbs in two months. I was a snug size 18 and I am fitting into some 16's now. Not all....and yeah, different companies cut clothes differently.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
