Bored With Food So Not Eating..

Recommended Posts

Lately I been so bored with everything. I can't look at another piece of chicken or fish or lunch meat. I tried buying different kinds but I am still bored with everything so I barely been eating. Is this just a phase and it will pass to not worry or should I start to worry?? I mean I am barely getting 300 calories a day and that is coming from 2 Protein Shakes and some cheese strings. The only thing I am not bored with.

Thank you.

Have you tried to make a casserole with some Pasta, meat, veggies. I have made some with putting in a little pasta, cut up ham, peas or mixed veggies and some condensed cream of celery Soup. I have also made one with ham, Beans and cream of mushroom soup. I have also made some sausage, noodles and cream of chicken soup. With some onion and spices added to them they are not bad. You can also use Tomato sauce instead of the cream of chicken Soups. You could also try some chili with beans or make your own with beans and hamburger. I know that someone on here has a site for receipes and I hope that they see your post and share.

I know that if you are just sitting down to eat some plain sliced meat it can get boring fast.

I hope that this will help you a little. You said that you are having 2 shakes and only getting 200 calories in both. Are you mixing them with Water or are you using milk. With the milk you will increase the Protein and Calcium in one shot. Also try some soups and add extra meat to whatever type of soup your choose.

There are lots of great recipe sites for different ways to cook chicken and beef. You can cut the recipes in half so they don't make so much, and you'll probably still end up with leftovers for other meals (or lunches). I've found that being creative with various recipes keeps me from getting bored.

Go check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com she has tons of recipes for all phases. One of my current favorites is refried Beans scrambled with egg and cheese topped with hot sauce. You could make mini casseroles - put your Protein in the bottom, top with a tablespoon or so of cream Soup, then add cheese, heat until warm. Or protein in bottom, add refried beans, top with cheese, heat until warm top with hot sauce. Yum!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
