Today was my first Sunday after surgery and while I am enjoying the benefits of this sleeve I also just got a jolt of reality NO SUNDAY DINNER! Coming from a very traditional Italian family this was a very hard thing for me to deal with. I know it is not forever but missing even just one was hard on my heart. I know I made the right decision and 11 pounds down this is already a blessing but wow did I want that family dinner. I have just 3 days until I can eat some Peanut Butter and hummas I am going to just take one day at a time and keep my eye on the prize but man do I want some Maccaroni! Lol! Hope you all had a great weekend.

It's very hard but u have strength to get thru..the Saturday after my surgery my family ate fried chicken n sides plus they ordered take out pizza, it was a hard day for me so I excused myself to my room while they ate and did get a Lil emotional but i made it thru and it has made me stronger, I have gone out to eat several times and have my husband order wisely and take a few bites of his food...we still need te socialization or family time. Good luck on this journey and u will find that soon enough u can maybe eat some (whole wheat Mac n cheese)...Best of luck!!!

Same feelings here! Yesterday I was very upset that my family was eating things I could not. Even the sound of my husband chewing was bothering me. I feel better today but I'm sure I'll have other rough days. Hang in there!!

Yes, it is very hard to be with our families when they're eating the foods that we love. I get caught up with the amount that they are eating. Hahaha. But I am working on telling myself that at least I'm not going to be gaining any of my weight back. ;)

I know just how you feel - I think it's very normal to mourn because hey, we're all here because of love of food, and suddenly we can't indulge that love any more. I'm in my 3rd week post-op and have up days and down days - some days the sight of food does nothing for me, other days I really, really, really want to eat all the good food that everyone else is having. But I'm going to keep battling the head hunger - good luck to you doing the same!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
