Though It was a Slippage but instead

Recommended Posts

it was my GallBladder:hurt and it was HUGE:eek: I spent about 14 hours in the ER and then was sch. for a 3pm surg. that got bumped a couple of times. But its all over with now and I'm on the way to recovery......1 sm step at a time. But of course I had to have a total unfil just when I had gotten to my sweet spot a couple of months ago.

Please keep me in your thought a prayers that I will be back on the road to a speedy recovery and don't have a relapse and gain any weight back.

TIA

I'm glad you're on the road to recovery! Not to trivialize what you went through, but I'm glad it was your gall bladder and not a band slippage! In some cases, slips can't be fixed and the doctor removes the band and either makes you wait 6 months for another band surgery or tells you that you can't be rebanded at all. Hope you feel better soon!

Glad to hear the band is OK. I've finally just reached that stage where it is working. Would hate to have to go through anything to stop it now. Good Luck to you, glad to hear you're on the mend.

That's the way I felt. Much better in the long run if I had to have a choice of course.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
