Hi everyone, I had my surgery on February 25th and I've only lost 12 pounds. I'm drinking my Protein, and as much Water as I can, nothing calorie heavy or with sugar. I'm following everything the nutritionist said and still I'm not loosing weight!!! Is this not going to work for me??? Anybody went through this when they first got sleeved???

hi ButterFlyGirl

first off its a "rule" - never, ever say "only" as in only lost x amount of weight. Many go threw this, not losing weight immediately - weight will come off. give it time.

best wishes

kathy

You've lost 12 pounds and you consider that not losing weight? That's 12 pounds in 3 weeks! I looked at your profile and it said you're 5'3". You're generally not going to lose as quickly as, say, someone who is 5'10". I'm 5'7" and I lost about 18 pounds the first 3 weeks. I actually lost 25 the first two weeks, but that's because I wasn't keeping ANYTHING down, even Water. I was basically bulimic those two weeks and had actually regained 7-8 pounds after that because I was re-hospitalized and was getting actual nutrition for the first time since surgery from the IV.

I think you're doing great. As many people on here will say, you didn't get heavy overnight, and it's not going to come off overnight. Just keep doing what you're doing and don't give up! Like I said, 12 pounds in 3 weeks is awesome! When else were you able to lose 4 pounds a week?

You also have to realize that you are probably going through the inevitable 3 week stall. Most everyone on here has gone through it. Basically after two weeks your body adjusts and needs to level itself out. It'll pass, I promise! :)

You are doing great. Take a deep breath and relax. We all hit a stall in the first month.Your body is in shock. Give it a chance to adjust and the weight will start to come off again. I would recommend that you take measurements because even when you are not losing weight you will be losing inches. I have lost 29 inches since my surgery. Trust me you are losing but it may not be apparent on the scale. Hang in there!

I feel the same tomorrow is 6 weeks and I've lost 24 total 7 of which was pre op diet. I'm only 5' and started out at 202. I've been stuck at 178 for 2 weeks. I know it will come off it just seems sooooo SLOW right now. I keep thinking where will I be at 6 mo.??? Is this going to work for me???? It's hard right now bc we FEEL the weight should be flying off. I'm sure the reality for us shorties w lower BMI is that it will take longer. I know I have lost inches and fit into smaller clothes. So I guess we just have to learn to be patient AS HARD as that is right now.

Don't be discouraged, trust me. Been there and still get that way. I hit a stall about week 3 and felt like it took FOREVER to get past. Take a deep breath and go one step at a time. I had to start treating each day with a new attitude. I only weigh on Mondays and log my exercise. That is where I put my focus now. Trying to get a little bit further everytime. what you dont see on the scale is inchs. I measure those monthly. Just to make sure I am doing "it" right. Lol Keep your head up and think positive.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
