I've screwed up on the diet A LOT!! I'm 4 days out from surgery now....do I have enough time to shrink my liver if I follow it to the T now, or do I need to push back my surgery? I don't want to change my surgery date at all, but if doing the surgery with only 4 days pre op diet is going to mess up my surgery then I'd rather move it back. Anyone know what I should do?

You should be straight with your surgeon about this and et him advise you. It would be in your best interesa and dor your safety to be forthcoming with the doc so that he can tell you truthfully if you need to push back the surgery...

I am pretty sure they wont push back the surgery if she did the 3 days of clears right before. You havent read the treads on women eating the day before and then trying to throw up and use mag citrate. LoL thats nuts. But their docs still did the surgery. From my collective gathering the whole diet perspective is to get up into ketosis. It helps out post op big time. But post op the last thing your worrying about is food except for popcicles ;) . I was sick the week of my surgery. I got a shot on monday told both of my docs and both said you will be on enough antibiotics to kill nearly anything left that you will have by then.

Hmm so yes tell the doc but will it matter 98% will be negative

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
