I'm new here, but I know that if you have a fever you should call your surgeon ASAP. You could have an infection or a leak. I hope you have gotten ahold of him or her.

Hey, I called and talked my surgeon and he said since my fever was under 100, to take Tylenol and continue drinking liquids. He said if that didn't work or my fever got high or anything, to call him. He thinks I am fine but just more sensitive. I have an appointment Monday morning.

Keep walking, and stick to clear liqiuds in little bitty sips. You are still probably really swollen inside. I drank only from a medicine cup or baby spoon.

Just try to stay calm until you speak with the Doctor. Keep us updated on what he says.

I would definitely stay with Clear Liquids for the time being. I'm day three post-op and I'm not even allow to do full liquids until the two week mark. I've been drinking Gatorade and that seems to be OK for me (as it seems to be different from person to person). I got these 1oz cups at the hospital and I try to drink one of them every 15 minutes in order to get my fluids in.

Hang in there. I know it's rough as I'm going through something similar myself. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I was feeling so good on Sunday that I cancelled my appt. yesterday was a good day but I woke up not feeling great today. I haven't had fever again so I think it's just the healing process. I am trying to drink more today and rest more and see if that helps. I have lost 15 lbs so far so at least that is good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
