I am having problems with stabbing pain every time I eat or drink anything. I have tried hot, cold, and room temperature drinks. I have tried runny mashed potatoes, refried Beans, yogart, snd Popsicles.

I am barely drinking 16 oz a day and that is hard. I feel helpless. I called the doctor today but he was in surgery.

I am taking Prilosec and Pepcid ac and I am walking a lot. What else can I do??

I had my surgery at Princeton in Birmingham, Alabama.

I use a baby spoon and a sippy cup. I take extremely small bites. My doctor just called and said to just do liquids this weekend and sip, sip, sip. He said if I start running a fever to call him back.

I am open for suggestions. This is really making me upset. I wonder if something is wrong.

Maybe food was introduced too soon. You will run a fever if you have an infection so if your not feverish then you are probably fine in that area. I would stay away from anything except liquids for a few days at least.

I think she had surgery on this last Monday? I imagine food would hurt right now for sure.

I was sleeved on March 5 and he still has me on liquids, I can do the Protein shakes but no foods.

Hope you get better soon!

I am worse today. I still have a stabbing pain when I drink and my stomach gurgles. My stomach feels like it is cramping alot. The doc told me to keep drinking, no mushies this weekend. I have had 9 oz so far today and 1 Popsicle.

My stomach feels bloated and I just don't feel good. My husban is getting some Gatorade to see if that helps.

I don't know what else to do.

Thanks!

Carol

I had it too, your stomach is most likely still swollen. It might change quickly or slowly.Tiny sips.I had to do a visual of how much 1 oz is.And then drink it in 18 minutes...salty warm stuff goes down easier, like broth.Put a little in your mouth then let is kind of trickle around your in your mouth, over your teeth and then swallow.(like you would swallow your saliva)..it is such an insignificant amount it doesnt hurt.Oh,and the only things that goes down even almost ok is a bit of diluted broth and strangely enough some tea with a bit of milk.I also cannot drink Water as it causes a lot of acid.

Be patient, try different things.I think I am now telling myself this as I am still struggling just like you.Hope you feel better soon.If not,go to that dr to be checked out.Better safe than sorry.

xxo

If the food irritated your stomach it is probably inflamed and will take a little longer to heal. Just sip slow like desertmom suggested. It will take a littel time for the swelling to go down. Are you running a fever at all?

Thanks for all of the advice. I am not running a fever but I am worried about all of this. I feel like maybe this is not normal. I really hope this is going to be ok.

I am sure you are worried this is a scary situation. I was also told peppermint tea soothes the sleeve. It sounds grose to me but might be worth a try.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
