I gave up on the medicine cups almost immediately after I got home. My surgery was 11/30/2011. I don't like measuring things because it's too time intensive, and I have a 2.5 year old running around. I just eat what feels right to me. Don't get me wrong TONS of people measure out their food and I think that is really great for them and I wish I could sometimes but I just don't. When I was in Weight Watchers we had to measure out all of our food and I will admit it did help, and in time you just "know" what the right portion is and all that. You will get the hang of it, just take your time and do what feels right.

I use a 1/3 measuring cup. It works for me :) Also if I'm eating fish - which I do daily - it is usually pre-measured portions that I eat 1/2 of a small amount (like 2oz of a 4 oz peice). I should add that I use a 2tbs spoon for something heavy like hummus.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
