I am having trouble figuring out when I am full. I am just about three weeks out and I just started soft foods. I am eating about 3 onces a meal but I feel like I am overeating. I eat the 3 ounces but I keep feeling overly full like I ate to much and I get a weird feeling overly full and I have this indigestion feeling in my throat. Am I eating to fast? how do you know when you are full?

Im 5 weeks out and also was going threw the same thing. What worked for me was eating a lil bit slower and taking smaller bites. Also make sure ur not drinking anything atleast a half hour before you eat. Its hard to know when ur full im still struggling with that part. I guess as we get further along the signs will be stronger... Good luck

That full feeling in my throat or that pressure I feel in my chest is when I know I CAN NOT take another bite. I find myself eating too fast because I have a fiance and kids that do not take 30 minutes to eat their meals. They are learning to slow down and try to enjoy meal time with me.

When I was that far out I could only eat about 2 oz at a time, so 3 oz might be a little too much. I agree that you need to eat a little more slowly and try to listen to your body - it will tell you when you're full!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
