Carly 56 Posted March 15, 2012 Hey- I'm wondering about Hair loss and sleeve surgery. I am to have mine soon and am already having hair loss due to hormone changes, I think. So I am scared I may go bald! Anyone have any info related to this?
coops 1,790 Posted March 15, 2012 Hiya Carly, I am 19mths post op and was told that I am perimenopausal this time last year. My hair has thinned ... but it isn't too bad. I did have it cut off into a shorter, neater style and if you don't look for the thinning you can't really see it. Not sure if that helps! Are you on HRT or any other medication? Have you been sleeved?
Carly 56 Posted March 16, 2012 Hi coops, Thanks. I am not sleeved yet. My date is April 1. But over the last year or so, I have lost so much hair already. No, I am not on any medication or hormones. I am a bit worried, but the alternative is not good either. Thanks for replying!

Carly 56 Posted April 2, 2012 Hey Deedles, I am in the hospital day 1 postoperative. I am worried about going bald too. Been looking at where to buy hairpieces! Hopefully it won't come to that. Take care.

Carly 56 Posted April 4, 2012 Hey Deedles, I am doing better thank God. The day after surgery was a bit hard. I had some powerful gas pains, but right now I am just working on trying to get enough liquid in. I am drinking Water, veggie broth, activia, and a little juice. I have been trying to walk but mostly just around in the house. I feel that as soon as I am able to eat more 'normally' the real work will start-psychological stuff. Hopefully you will be just fine. I think I feel better just not having any of the bad foods in my system. Best wishes! 1 wrightgirl1965 reacted to this
slojo 150 Posted September 8, 2012 I'm wondering if you still have the hairloss post op,if you take in plenty of Protein or does it occur no matter what?
Amanda 3.0 140 Posted September 8, 2012 I have already completed menopause, and am eight months post-surgery, and have not lost much hair. Knock on wood. I still take Protein supplements every day though. I like having hair! 1 wrightgirl1965 reacted to this
Carly 56 Posted September 8, 2012 I am having Hair loss. It started at month three and is still going now in month 5. I'm hoping it will slow and cease soon!
christynbj 9 Posted September 25, 2012 my hairdresser said it varied wildily person to person, and is the result of almost any surgery requiring anesthesia.
wrightgirl1965 4 Posted June 9, 2013 I believe I am peri`menopausal. If I loose to much hair, I may chop it off and wear girlie "doo`rags". Hopefully it wont come to that.
Jennifer Gill 3 Posted July 6, 2013 I'm having surgery in a couple of weeks (scared, excited ...). I did Hcg a couple of years ago and was on 500 calories a day for 30 days - 3 months later, I started losing huge clumps of hair and it lasted about 2 months. However, it eventually stopped and then grew back. I assume I am one of the people who will lose a bunch of hair, but I will eat (or drink) all my Protein and hope for the best - AND I know it will grow back. I am also starting menopause - a lot of people complain about being cold so I am hoping I'll keep warm with hot flashes! 1 kw2walker reacted to this

Jennifer Gill 3 Posted July 28, 2013 It's H C G. It is a hormone pregnant women have. If you take it while dieting, you can SUPPOSEDLY have a 500 calorie per day diet without your body going into starvation mode. Dr. Oz had it on his show back in 2011 and I decided to try it. I lost 28 lbs in a month and it wasn't that hard, and obviously my body did not go into starvation mode. However, I did lose hair several months later, and, of course, I gained the weight back.
