Starting To Love My Sleeve

Recommended Posts

At first I felt so restricted and closterphobic...but now that I am healing and able to do more, I actually love the feeling of getting full after a few bites. I am glad to get to this stage!!!

Yay, Reddi!! That's an amazing feeling, isnt it? You're gonna adore your sleeve as your best friend before it's all done! As mad as I get at Rex for keeping me from eating all of something, every time I get on that scale or drop a size, I remember to thank him for the work he's doing! :)

Yeah, I definitely feel what you mean by being a slave to the food in front of you. I really can't thank my sleeve enough for giving me the freedom to walk away. I am so happy for you. Good luck on your journey!

It does get so much better as we heal. I still have times when I eat stuff I shouldn't and I wasn't even hungry. And times I am very cautious about putting things in my sleeve. I'm very protective of it. LOL ;)

Huge Congrats to YOU!!!

:) I feel the same way!! I was sleeved on 2-27 and the only thing that bothers me is swallowing (some) pills...capsules are not my friend and yesterday one came back up..TMI I know, but important for some..it was the first time I have thrown up....small tablets are fine, so I will have to find other brands that will go down without problems...I love the restriction....the feel of being full after a small amount of food!!! I told hubs today at dinner...I love it!! I used to wake up EVERY morning and I swear the very first thing I would think of was food....Not now...that in itself is such a blessing!!! :)

Everyday is an interesting, yet fulfilling one w/ Sleevina!!! She's something else!! But, each day does get better as you learn to navigate and appreciate life pre-sleeve..

It helps me to remember that this is a journey and I have to submit to it, moment by moment!

Hey Reddi, we were sleeved the same day! I am sooooo happy I had this surgery. I'm getting comments that I've lost weight. I can really see the 20lb. loss! Excited for the future. Just having a hard time being patient!

I've always said the first 2 weeks were the hardest. My energy has been slow, but I think it's because I've had a hard time getting in my Protein. I've started making shakes and that has solved that problem. I already see the change in my pep!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
