Has anyone else experienced a sort of "stall" after hitting the walking? I've been doing well with my walking, but for the past week my weight hasn't really changed. Which I know I can't expect loses everyday, just seems silly to be eating so few calories and then burning them to not see a change.

I figure maybe muscle gain, but I don't know how much walking builds muscle.

I'm not super worried. Just curious.

Gracias!

Well muscle gain will certainly count towards SOME of it the simple fact is that you can't be losing fat and gaining muscle pound for pound by simply walking. It takes a LOT of work to gain a pound of muscle, more than simply waling can do.

It's a mystery some times. The body simply CANNOT break the laws of physics and SHOULD lose weight with low calories IN and high caloric burn OUT. But as many of us have experienced it just ain't so sometimes. Water weight gain, waste retention, sneaky calories you aren't counting, hormonal changes all effect us. What it is exactly is hard to tell.

Keep sticking with it, it'll start to come off again.

Most of the time for me, the stall with increased exercise is that I am not getting enough Water. I DO NOT, I repeat, I do not lose without maintaining adequate hydration, so I always have to keep on top of that especially when I am doing intense cardio and for a long time walking was it.

Thanks you guys :)

I figured I shouldn't worry too much. My surgeon was happy with my loss after 6 weeks. Said I had lost more than they estimate for 6 weeks...so that made me feel good :D

Wishes- I do think I slacked on my Water for a couple of days- relying on most of my liquid intake from Protein drinks...

That's awesome. I know stalls are hard mentally, but it really sounds like you are doing great. Keep it up!

Lol, I totally understand the slacking. I am my own worst enemy. It got really bad to a point my mom and boyfriend thought I needed an intervention because I just wasn't hungry i.e. read eating and I kept forgetting my fluids. I am a lot more focused on the fluids and Protein now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
