You'll be able to drink Water much faster than you can now in a couple of months. I'm a little over six months out and I can drink a 20 oz bottle of water in about 30 minutes if I'm pushing it. You must keep sipping now, though, to avoid dehydration. Being actively thirsty means you definitely need to push yourself to sip, sip, sip. Good luck! :)

Hi all,

i've always "liked" the taste of Water. I can "chug" Water to a point, but i never seem to get enough water through the day. definitely not 20oz in a 1/2 hour period. (i know that was just an example.)

i'm doing ok on my journey, but....if i i drank more water daily i probaly would show better results of weight loss., am i right?

I can drink about 32 oz of Water in 30-45 minutes... When I forget and take a chug, Sleevina gives me that "calm down chick" feeling.. and it's horrible!!!!

Im prolly not the norm but I can drink or "chug" Water just fine. During my 2 hour workout I usually drink 64oz of Water easily.

It is true that the more water u drink the more easily u lose weight, at least for me it is.. if i dont drink enough water one day I notice a stall on the scale. The more water I drink the faster the scale moves. Could be too that because I am drinking more water I dont have as much time to sneak in other calories that could potentially stall me.

Will i ever be able to skull Water again? I am dying of thirst and sip sip sip is killing me X-(

Oh yes, I'm sure you will be able to again someday. It took me at least 6 months! But, I did get there and I can again chug Water. Not as much as pre-sleeve but I can still do it if needed. :)

Hang in there!

I'm just like Felicia...I have a Tervis Tumblr (LOVE! ) and I can easily sip/gulp/swallow using the straw about 8 oz at a time! A few big mouthfuls and it goes down juuuuust fine. But then I have to wait a bit, just a few minutes, before I can do it again. But again, I really don't think that's normal, lol!! So weird how our little sleeves are all SO different! I also have no problems taking big bites, or with any food, either. Don't know if that's lucky or unlucky, depends on how you look at it!

I'm only 6 wks out & I can take normal size drinks of Water. Sometimes I get really thirsty & chug down a bit & then I have to wait a few minutes to resume drinking but I'm pretty "normal". And fyi I could hardly.swallow tiny sips in the beginning :)

I do have to take a few minutes in between big chugs too, just wanted to add that in. Overall how I eat and drink are still pretty much the same.. It is what my sleeve does after the bite or drink that influences me. If that makes sense. If I gulp gulp gulp my sleeve doesn't mind but it will say hold off awhile until I can gulp gulp again. Same with bites.. I take more time in between my larger sized bites and always wait to feel my sleeve signal... whether it be good bad or ugly.. to proceed.

I am 3.5 months post op BTW and in the beginning I was NOT this way. I sipped, I took small bites, and I generally followed most of the rules.

Follow what ur body tells you, like someone else said everyone is different. U wont always have to do it the way you are right now.

Wow, you use a straw again? I don't know why but I thought I was giving up the straw for life? LOL - maybe I imagined this?!! :D

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
