Chocolate season?

Recommended Posts

Okay, I just got back from eating out with my family at our favorite local Mexican restaurant. It come to dessert time and I decide..the 4 of us just shared a beef fajita for 2 platter I think we can do dessert :scared: I order a fried ice cream (theirs in vanilla ice cream covered in frosted flakes and topped with honey sauce) YUM!

Anyhow one my way back from the restroom I notice they have chocolate cake on the dessert platter...So I ask the lady, do you have chocolate cake? Because now I want some w/ ice cream on it :)

And she says to me...

Oh no, we only have it seasonaly...

I said okay then went back to my fried ice cream (BTW all 4 of us shared 1 fried ice cream not 1 each...)

Then I got to thinking...When is chocolate season? Because I'm gonna have to mark my calender!!!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee bring on chocolate season!!!

So serisly... have you ever heard of such a thing?

PS please be kind w/ my typos, I have had frozen Rita's :P

Hugs,

Nana~

Fried Icecream I think can be done a few ways, we do it like this

A scoop of vanilla ice cream rolled into a ball.

Roll this ball into Frosted or non frosted flakes until covered

top drizzle with honey the spinkle cin. sugar over the top

it's really good or atleast we think so!

There is a truly "Fried" Ice Cream

Somewhat common in the Gulf Coast area

FRIED MEXICAN ICE CREAM

1 pt. vanilla ice cream

1/2 c. crushed corn flakes or cookie crumbs

1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. sugar

1 egg

Oil for deep frying

Honey

Whipped cream

Scoop out 4 or 5 balls of ice cream. Return to freezer. Mix crumbs, cinnamon and sugar. Roll frozen ice cream balls in half the crumb mixture and freeze again. Beat egg and dip coated balls in egg, then roll again in remaining crumbs. Freeze until ready to use (for thicker coating repeat dipping in egg and rolling in crumbs). When ready to serve, heat oil to 350 degrees. Place a frozen ice cream ball in fryer basket or on a perforated spoon and lower into hot oil 1 minute. Immediately remove and place on dessert compote. Drizzle with honey and top with a dab of whipped cream. Continue to fry balls one at a time. Balls will be crunchy on the outside and just beginning to melt on the inside. 4-5 servings.

It is to die for........YUMMMMM!

I'm glad Vicki posted the recipe for REAL fried icecream. That stuff is SO GOOD.

Anywho, no, I have never heard of "chocolate season" but that's what must be going on at my house, because I simply can't get enough of the stuff!

I don't think it was chocolate season she was referring to - its ice cream season. You can only have ice cream when its cold outside and its too hot now (in the US anyway).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
