Higher Risk Of Complication?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if certain conditions predispose people to a higher rate of complications from a sleeve? Such as BMI, previous lap band, etc? I've read some of the complications and it's freaking me out.

I have read that lap band to sleeve conversions CAN (not absolutely) have a SLIGHTLY higher chance of leaks and complications. There have been many on here with conversions with no problems at all. That is just one factor that can contribute. High BMI...I don't think so.

I have recently had the conversion from ban to sleeve and I have had absolutely no problems. In my opinion I don't think there are as many complications as other people say there are. Although when surgery is involved no on knows what could happen. Hope that helps.

High BMI is a risk for ANY surgical procedure, not just VSG. The risks are the same whether you are having a VSG or an appendectomy. Band-to-sleeve revisions have a higher risk of leaks because often the stomach tissue has been damaged by the band, but the vast majority of revisions have no issues.

yeah i would think complications of band to sleeve would depend on indiviual scar tissue/damage results etc. so each case is different.

i really think strictures and most leaks are not the patients fault but the doctor's technique, IMO. surgical complications like blood clots could be higher if you have clotting issues, infections are kind of a toss up between sterile conditions and luck to me. although i think you take antibiotics after which is good. if you have gerd you need to get on it before and after surgery especially... if you have a hernia hopefully it will get repaired, as i know that can cause GERD etc to be worse before and after surgery, same with gall bladder problems.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
