Enerfina 50 Posted March 14, 2012 I was sleeved on march 5, its been 10 days since, and i live in fl.. supper sunny right now especially in Miami. the temperature is great, the wind is blowing.. and my body feels so hot! it needs to be submerged... My point is that I love the beach, n now its the perfect time to go to the beach! but since its only been 10 days out, i am concern on how the salty Water may affect my sleeve..or skin.. My incisions do not hurt anymore, and looked healed.. i just want to dive n swim my life out, since i have been stuck at home for nearly two weeks now.. So i don't know what to do.. twoboysandagirl 109 Posted March 14, 2012 I would say that you should check with your doctor...Do you still have stitches, staples, durabond? I would say that makes a big difference . Most likely you should take it easy and just wade in the Water and splash around but swimming takes a lot of work from tummy muscles and I doubt yours are ready for a work out. I wasnt allowed any exercise other than walking until 4 weeks and then no strenious until 6 months. 1 LilMissDiva Irene reacted to this
Enerfina 50 Posted March 14, 2012 thank you so much for replying, I talked to the doc assistant who checked my incisions and she said they look good, i don't have stitches, i guess they sealed it from the inside.. she told i can do moderate exercise, upper and lower but no abdominal until one month out.. i don't know if swimming lightly makes a diff.. i just want to dive down hold my breath go back up, move my feet in the hand while inside the water.. hmmm makes me want to go right now lol !!! Foxbins 625 Posted March 14, 2012 My doc said no swimming for six weeks but I could have a bath after my steri-strips fell off, so I guess submerging yourself would be okay but no strenuous swimming.
LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted March 14, 2012 I would only consider that it is the Ocean and you would need to use your abdominal muscles to balance yourself. Other than that a quick dip shouldn't be a big deal. Just be very careful! Since the Nurse said your incisions are fine.. again just the balancing yourself from the moving currents might be a bit strenuous and you may want to take that into consideration. You're not suppose to submerge yourself in Water for 6 weeks or so my doctor said. I really don't think 10 day is enough but you can absolutely go and walk through the shallow part of the water. That might be fun too.

My doc said as soon as my incisions were COMPLETELY healed over I could go back to swimming however, was to do no crunching of the tummy for 6 weeks. I'm going back next week! Yahoo excited! gramaof4 58 Posted March 15, 2012 We pay $20 bucks a month and I go to class 3 X per week M-W-F from 12-1:30p.m. and then every night from 6-7 p.m. with a couple of friends, more so just for continued movement in a boiant state....runnning in place, free style laps, mostly lower body movements, just to keep blood pumping for a solid hour....I love it....I lost 14 lbs before surgery 1 Enerfina reacted to this

I am literally on a bus in the dominican republic to go see my surgeon with all the results of my testing. I hope I'm cleared for next week! maddmaxx 8 Posted March 16, 2012 I would be more worried about possible infections many beaches have high bacteria levels although saline washes promote healing err towards caution
