Several Different Questions

Recommended Posts

I know lots of these are answered elsewhere, but I would like to keep the answers in one place for my own prep!!!

Hoping to get sleeved June 18. Starting to make small changes so that I can maximize my success! Working on changing how I drink Water, to thinking about recipes for making tastier clear Soups.< /p>

Questions: I've seen some say the powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury soups are gross and some say they are good. Opinions again, please.

Cream soups: does that mean you eat cream of chicken or cream of mushroom, for example, but either strain out the solids or blenderize them?

Does anybody have any good recipes for making your own tasty clear soups for the first few weeks? As in, making an actual Soup with chicken or beef and veggies and straining out the solids? Is this permissable? I'm just thinking that plain ol chicken broth from the can is gonna get old, and they also said to limit salt intake.

I am getting excited and I love this message board! It's been SO helpful!

And, everyone says your tastes will change a lot so I don't want to buy a lot of stuff, rather I'd like to have different options in case one thing make me barf after surgery even though I liked it before. :)

I'm two weeks post op and I like Oh Yeah shakes they have 32 grams of Protein but are pretty expensive. I also like Unjury. I don't care for the plain because of the weird smell. I do use the chicken flavor with broth and I mix the vanilla flavor with orange crystal light its really good. I use store brand Soups. After drinking them everyday they all taste the same. Have to admit I did not get creative during this stage just ready to move on. Also unjury sells individual servings for $2 per pack. I would try those to make sure you like them.

Ooh that's good advice!!! I ordered a sample pack of injury today just to try. I like the vanilla in orange idea!!!! Awesome!

What Soups do you eat? Because I'm picturing plain broth or Campbell's cream of mushroom!!! Do you have to strain or blenderize them?

I strained a lot of cream Soups to include chicken and mushroom. Went to my NUT today and it looks like I can slowly start my journey to solid foods. I have a list of food to start with. I can only eat 1/4 cup of food at a time and it should be mashable (not sure if this is a word) with a fork. They really push eating eggs. I'm just so excited to eat I'm curious to see what my new tummy will tolerate. I can say that I've been lucky and have not had to vomit or felt nauseous at all but I do have meds for it just in case. Also my NUT goes with the 60 60 60 rule. You will notice on this site there are so many different ways that things are done after surgery. But I have to do 60 minutes of exercise, 60 grams of Protein and 60 ounces of Water. At my appointment today I explained I've been getting my protein in but not my water. She wants me to try to get more protein in with foods and less shakes and concentrate on getting my water in. Anyway hope all of this helps you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
