Nightgown Or Housedress?

Recommended Posts

MY husband and I went shopping the other day for something for me to wear right after surgery. All I have is pj's, and I don't imagine they will be too comfy on my incisions. Anyway, I am leaning towards a couple of house dresses, but my husband thinks the snaps may rub against the incisions. So I didn't get either yet! Any thoughts on this HUGE dilemma! LOL!

I got a long robe that zipped up the front. It didn't rub or bother me at all. I would definitely get something that opens in the front because it's easier when you're hooked up to an IV. I was in the hospital for a few days and definitely would have had trouble pulling a shirt or nightgown over my head.

Everyone is different, but that's my 2 cents.

I also had a long gown with a zipper in the front and some really baggy sweats to wear home.

You're incisions will be covered, so really not a problem! I agree with the zippered robe!

Never thought about trying to pull something over my head! Thanks for the suggestions. Off to look for a long robe with a zipper.....just hope I can find a lightweight one, as I am usually VERY hot!

I ended up with a pullover gown with pockets and no sleeves because I am always hot too! Got it on just fine with the IV because they unhooked my IV when I went to the restroom anyway. It was awesome!

Good luck with your shopping!

What about a robe with the metal buttons instead (since you are unsure about the zipper).

I'm so excited for you. My health insurance requires that I take 12 weeks of classes on how to eat healthy and exercise after surgery. My last class is the 23rd, then I will see a surgeon. Hopefully soon after, I will making the same decisions you are!

I just wore the hospital gown the entire time. Any time something icky got on it I just traded it out for a few one.

Are oversized yoga pants OK? I'm worried about the incision but I hate having my tushie hanging out in the hospital gowns. LOL

When I was wearing the hospital gown for day 1 they just gave me another one to put on backwards to hide my tushy!! :D

My hospital gown was big enough for two other people!!! I had to wrap it around twice to keep from tripping!

I wore yoga pants and a tee home w/the me...oh and a sports bra to keep my girls off of my incision.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
