Shemy-away 83 Posted March 14, 2012 Hey brandymarie81, it's like you're reading my mind. I had frequrent Y.I's before the sleeve and once my period hit the day after its been really bad. I don't know if its the hormone fluctuation thats doing it but I'm now on meds for it and I'm going into the doc Thursday for follow up. I know my symptoms and diagnosed myself but I want confirmation. Have you been to the doc yet? BTW this may be TMI but I'm STILL bleeding! WTH. I hope this period craziness doesn't last for a long time.

EmilyIsSleeved 6 Posted March 14, 2012 My surgeon told me Yeast infections tend to be common after surgery due to rapid hormone changes and how your body reacted to all the meds and anesthesia given during/after the surgery. It's the same way lots of us tend to get really random periods after surgery as well. Just treat the infection and I'm sure things will settle down as your body gets used to its new normal. Hope you get over your annoying infection soon
Queen of Crop 1,104 Posted March 14, 2012 I have news for you; it happens post menopausal as well, AND bladder infections! You really should see your doctor to be sure you don't need antibiotics. I had a miserable bladder infection for 2 months after surgery; I was traveling and had to hit clinics in Amsterdam, Prague, and florence, Italy! No fun...... www.queenofcrop.com A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF A SLEEVER UPDATED EVERY SUNDAY
Shemy-away 83 Posted March 14, 2012 Is it ok to take the pills they give or should we stick to the messy week long creams to fight it? The pill seems to work faster for me so that's what I'm hoping to get Sent from my iPhone using VST
Helo-Tech 7 Posted March 14, 2012 NOT THAT I'M AN EXPERT, but, having been married for 28 years I've learned a thing or three. it's likely due to all the antibiotics they gave you during surgery, My wife gets one EVERY time she takes antibiotics for anything. Lexsan 104 Posted March 14, 2012 I agree everytime I start antibiotics I get a YI the best natural way for me is to put plain yogurt on the site it relieves the burning itchy feeling and it restores the natural bacteria needed to fight the YI. It works everytime for me.
Julie76 251 Posted March 14, 2012 I had the same problem but once the hormones leveled out and I stopped taking the antibiotics for the terrible Bladder infection I had, I haven't had one since. It's good to know there is a good home remedy out there Lexsan! Thanks.

sasicas 194 Posted March 14, 2012 I would guess it is the hormone fluctuations as well. I only had them in pregnancy randomly until surgery, then I had a couple. THe only thing in common were crazy hormones
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted March 21, 2012 You can good protbiotics from a health food store that will prevent a yeast infection if you have to go on anti biotics. The best ones are kept refridgerated in a health food store, not somewhere like Walmart ,just on the shelf.
something2think 5 Posted March 22, 2012 I got one right after surgery from all the antibiotics. I called my PCP and he called in a script for diflucan. I also take "pearl" acidophlus ( a probiotic) and they have a special formula for "female health" u can get them from wal-mart or any pharmacy or health store. Just a warning to be careful if u r having sex...you can pass it to your male partner. how's that for TMI!
