So i have posted here 2 times with a surgery date in the past six months. The 1st fell through because my mom went into icu 2 days before my surgery(she came out ok). The seconf time i tried my work required me to go out of town 18 hrs away for 10 weeks for training. Now this is all out of the way and im getting the sleeve on march 21st. Im exited and nervous but this time nothing short of armagedon is going to stop me. i am having my surgery at university hospitals in cleveland ohio by dr alan saber. have been on preop for 1 week and have lost 10 pounds and am dyiong for taco bell. have followed the diet 80-90% but have had an extra shake or piece of skim milk mozerella here and there. little nervous about the first couple weeks after surgery wondering if i will be hungary and wanting to freek out lol. I have a great support system and everyone i know knows what surgery i am getting so im sure they will all be understanding. just gonna take it one step at a time. I have had no probs with insurance bcbs federal has been great. well wish me luck and ill keep posting. oh i plan on taking pics once every week or 2 in my boxers to get the full effect so if you read more of my post be prepared lol.

I am so glad that you are finally able to have your surgery. I understand your being nervous and excited at the same time. You will do fine and enjoy your new stomach after surgery. Take things slow and as for the hunger I have not had any since surgery. They take the part that causes the hunger feeling. Now head hunger that is another thing that you will just have to face headon. That is when you think that you are hungry and after years of overeating and snacking anytime that I wanted to it does take some determination. Just remember that your mind is not in control of your eating....you are. When my head hunger strikes I try and do something to take my mind off of it....like taking a shower, read a book, work on the computer, call a friend, clean a drawer.....anything to distract myself away from the kitchen and the food.< /p>

I know that you will do great and I wish you all the best on your surgery and the days, weeks, months and years after.

Best of luck had mine on the 8 th, no pain some discomfort, hubby can eat in front of me and I have no urges to eat at all , it does look good but just not hungry.

Since I have been home on the treadmill for 30 mins a day, and believe me walking helps the gas affected my upper back, but the walking helped barely any pain now.

Good luck! Staying away from food helps. First few weeks I was not hungry, but am now. There is also gas and acid that makes you feel hungry. You will do great though!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
