Did Week 4, Day 3 today - much better than 4:2. Did the whole thing as prescribed and made sure to pace myself this time - it seems that my downfall is running super-fast and then fizzling out 2 minutes later. 6:30 km/min pace, which is a 32:30 5K, so not bad. I want to get under 30 mins, as I've never been able to before.

Wow BBJ, You look GREAT! I just recently started C25K again and it has set the scale in motion. I just finished w2d3 (after repeating week 2). I've also been trying to walk 3 miles on my rest days. Now that I've dropped some weight I can do this without the hip and knee pain (so far). Jogging is not something that I enjoy doing but it beats lifting weights, although I know that I really need to be doing both to keep my metabolism up. Good luck to all who are attempting this.

I just came back to this, after starting and quitting a couple of times. Just done W2D2 and feel great, my dd came with me and slowed me down a lot, but I was averaging 11.08 per mile, which is slow, but much improved on the 12.50 I was doing a couple of weeks back, and even 40 seconds off my sunday run.

I've treated myself to a nike sportband which is really spurring me on.

I WILL get good at this even if it kills me! :)

Week 5, day 1! Did well. I peeked at week 6, though, and I'm a little apprehensive. 8 minutes of jogging in a row is a LONG time. Mind you, I've done it before, but it was usually in a race setting, where there's more pressure and there are other people about to outrun you. It's different when you are alone and just training!

I'm taking things a bit slower, since I can't seem to find time to run more than 2x a week - I try to make it to Crossfit at least 4, ideally 5 days a week, and I take 1 rest day a week. I should be done right about my 5K date (end of May).

Today I did week 5 day 2..WOW I can say it wasn't easy..8 minutes without stopping wasn't easy..I did weights and am trying to really hit my weak part of my body which are my abs...I really want my bottom of my belly to go away..the 3 c sections and being overweight really got to my stomach trying to fix it by working on my abs or hmmmmmm next year mini mommy makeover...

I think I'll be doing that run either tomorrow or Thursday. We did some intervals at Crossfit today (400 m x 6 times), so I have not entirely been taking a break from running in the meantime.

Finally got around to week 5, Day 2 - aka 2 8-min runs without stopping! Surprisingly, I did it. I developed awful stitches by the end of the first interval, though, and they didn't go away til the end of the workout. I powered through! Unfortunately, I must've accidentally pressed something on my iPhone halfway through, and it erased the entire first half of my workout, so I didn't get a readout of my pace! GRRR! I mapped out my route on Gmaps Pedometer and it looks like the first time, I covered around 1 mile in the first 8 minutes and 0.9 mile in the second 8 mins, so I'm pretty happy!

Question for you guys - have any of you ever done the C25K workouts 2 days in a row? I'm a bit behind on my schedule and my gym's closed til Tuesday, so I figured this long weekend might be a good time to catch up. My next workout is the 20-min unbroken run, so I just wanted to make sure I'm not gonna be burnt out if I do it tomorrow.

Soooo, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my goal is to finish my 5K under 30 mins - I always finish around 31 mins, +/- 30 seconds. I went on the Runner's World forums to see if anyone had an answer to the question I posted earlier about doing C25K for several days in a row, and of course I clicked on the "Is it possible to just be bad at 5Ks?" thread, thinking this would be the place for me. PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT 21-MIN 5Ks on there!!!!!!!

5-3 today! I really started feeling it after 15 mins! Finally, at 16:30, I was like, "there is NO WAY I can sustain another 3:30 of this!!!" so I slowed down and walked for 30 seconds. I felt SO much better after that short break! The remaining 3 minutes were....well, I wouldn't say "a breeze," but much more bearable! I actually did much better than I thought I would, I expected to have to stop after like 10 mins.

Thankfully, the next few runs are intervals again!

BlackBerry I love the runner's world site. And I still working on my 5K under 30,the closest I been in 31 minutes to do my 5K run but I been running actively for 2 months only . I run 3 times per week. I read that you are supposed to take one day to rest . It gets easier after you improve your pace to run more often. I ran my first 10 K in one hour the other day,not bad for a beginner but I will do better with my pace.

Wow! That's a really good time, I'm jealous! When I ran my 10Ks - at 175-180 lbs - they were both 1:11+!!! I can only dream of a 1-hour 10K!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
