Protein Bars

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang

Lately I have been HUGE into Protein Bars. They are dense and filling and I can eat them on the go, I also love the high Protein. I was recently told about Quest bars, apperently they are the only low carb Protein Bar availible and their flavors sound delicious. You can only buy them on line so I ordered a case from Amazon and they should arrive today. They say they have 4-5 non Fiber carbs, not sure what that means. Anyway has anyone tried these?

Quest bars are my favorite, I have one every day! Total carbs minus grams of fiber will give you the net carbs. Quest bars have the most fiber of any Protein bar, hence the lower net carbs. They are delicious and so filling. My favorite flavor by far is vanilla Almond Crunch. I usually order mine from Amazon, but Vitamin Shoppe is starting to carry them so you may want to check there. Hope you love them!

Did you get these, CT? How were they?? What did you think?

I think by 'non-fiber carbs' they mean that those are the 'net carbs' left after you subtract the fiber content from the total carbs. There are some high fiber diets that use the term 'net carbs' when trying to figure out how many carbs you are eating and those diets say that you can subtract the total fiber from the total carbs. Just a guess?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
