By now you should be on full liquids moving toward pureed foods from what I've been taught. Mornings might be cream of wheat or oatmeal made with milk or soy milk, creamy Soups for lunch, full Protein shakes in between, and of course lots of fluids.

Your body IS hungry. Of course it is, and it's probably wondering what happened to it's fuel source. This is one reason you lose so much weight in the beginning through this process of healing.

Good luck!

Rhap you are not doing anything wrong. Like Katie mentioned, you are experiencing real hunger. Remember what I mentioned on your blog?

Likely the only thing that will help the hunger now is only time. Some folks take a little longer for the hunger to go away, and it's usually when you start eating more normal and solid meals. Unfortunately too, there is a small group of folks whose hunger never does go away. I hope this is not the case for you!

Keep pushing, you should be close to your puree's if anything. I'm almost sure you will get help with feeling hungry then. *hugs*

Thanks. I tried the Jello things and it doesn't work. Its not about missing the chewing for me, its just about that ravenous feeling I used to get before I was sleeved when I went too long without food. I guess I just wasnt expecting that, especially after this big surgery.

My doc told me I have to stay on Clear Liquids until my 2 week appointment which is next monday at 2pm. I'm currently taking in Protein Shakes, so I'm not sure why I have to stay on clears another week but I don't want to break the rules and suffer for it later.

Yes, LMD I remember LOL and I'm sorry I'm just panicky today for some reason. This hunger caught me so off guard! I checked my blood sugar this morning and it was 89, which is really a big change from my normal 101-110 fasting.

Thank you ladies for responding! I think I will push more Protein and count it toward my fluids like it was suggested. Maybe that will help hold off my hunger longer.

No biggie! This journey is so tough, that's why forums like this are so valuable. :) Excellent blood sugar btw!!

I had this after the surgery as well. It will get better with time. And at times when it's time to eat, I am really ravenous. Then I can only eat a few bites. Best Wishes and try to get a lot of Protein in. ;)

This just started for me a couple weeks ago and I'm about seven weeks out. I have started having a few tums and hunger goes away.

:tongue2: Jello really does work. I get to chew it, stay on track and it breaks down the wall that I had up, fat!

There are sooo many things that could be going on when we first begin to feel hunger again - the cure is generally best focused on over why - and there have been alot of posts that give real good suggestions.

Jello and popcicles and crushed ice (often with a bit of the protien drink sprizzled over it) are all good head hunger cures - they are good real hunger cures, too. Jello and popcicles and chipped ice may be repeated more often, but at 0-10 calories a go, it is really not an issue, calorie-wise.

I noticed when I ate some tobiko (caviar) I really lost my hunger...it is full of Omega's and such, so I think at least one of my real hunger issues was an essential fatty acid deficit.

Thanks! I will increase my Protein and see if that helps.

Are you on anything to prevent acid or do you just use the Tums as needed?

Pookeyism, you may be onto something. I was just reading an article in Consumer reports about supplements and it said that taking fish oil supplements was a good idea for adults and kids. I may add yet another pill to my expanding collection :)

Thank everyone for the support and suggestions. It really helps to know I'm not by myself.

Im only on week 2 but the hunger im experiencing is all in my head im sure. meat and chocolate and cake O My! Like others have said Jello really seems to hit the spot. Ive heard alot of post sleevers say they experience hunger but its due to the acids bubbling around in your newly empty stomach. Do you take an anti acid daily? Try it

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
