Monday Funday Question Of The Day!

Recommended Posts

What's your go to place for relaxation? Mental or Physical, don't matter.

Mine is the nail salon - sans baby. Twice a month I abandon my motherly duties (usually on the weekends my son is with his father) and spend a couple of hours at the salon gossiping with my nail tech friend, getting my nails done, eyebrows waxed, and occasionally a pedicure if my finances allow.

I bake Cookies and cupcakes and cakes, for friends and family! I know it is weird for someone who had WLS, but if I bake it, I don't feel like eating it!

I cook and bake more now then I ever did. I have really gotten into the whole homemade thing. I make breads, cakes, preserves, Soups and sauces all from scratch. I also juice. I have been having a marvelous time and never have more than just a taste of anything (just to make sure it is right before I give it away.)

I meditate and watch nature. In the mountains this weekend, I put some shelled peanuts outside our cabin door and watched the blue jays and wood peckers come and take the peanuts. It was so interesting watching them get picky about which peanut they wanted. There were at least a dozen of them. LOL! Nature is so beautiful! ;)

My backyard. My husband and I have worked hard to make it a little oasis. We don't have a pool or anything fancy, we just worked on the landscaping ourselves and have two Water features, fruit trees, rock and drought tolerant gardens, dry stream beds, herbs and other edibles, a large chicken coop, etc.

My other place is on the back of a good horse.

A nature photo shoot. It takes me away to another world and food is the last thing on my mind..just wish I could do it more often.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
