Irked of the Protein Shakes and Protein Drinks just want to go out to get something normal. Even shashimi or Chinese would do. Just started my third week. Had crab bisque and five grilled shrimp yesterday. The bisque made me a little nauseated but kept it down.

I was a bit manic myself yesterday. My stomach just kept growling and growling. Woke up today and it was gone. Whew. We'll be eating normally soon. I had a really rich bisque a week ago and it made me nauseous as well. Too fatty. :)

hi frodo

at 3 weeks i wasn't eating bisque etc. seems kindof early for me. i was on clear broth, Clear liquids, sugar free popsicles, plenty of Water.

do what your dr. says of course, but if i ate bisque at this early stage, i would feel nausciou too. Remember your stomach is just healing after major surgery.

it's true that you do have to be patient before you eat more real foods, it will happen

good luck

Well I went for some curried chicken well cooked but moist at a Chinese restaraunt. I have been eating thinly sliced smoked ham the last few days with a slice of cheese. Sleeved in Mexico without much of a diet plan so I looked up several on the Internet from a link someone provided on this forum. So far no sickness so far. Was up on my feet thirty minutes after surgery and felt pretty good. Get lists of fluids but simply tired of pretein drinks. Perhaps I should have brought the meal home and puréed it but I haven't puréed anything yet. But I am sure I will with some thing I may want. Running between 700 and 1000 calories a day.

I travel every weekend and am generally taken to dinner. I do the best I can with the menu options. I wanted shashimi but they were out. So I ordered the bisque. I would have preferred a clam chowder.

Thanks for the support all! Tomorrow is another day. I hope to look into some other pretein options.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
