Getting Sleeved On 3/19/12 And Getting Anxious!

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I'm Jenny and I'm 24 years old & at the beginning of the journey I started out at 250lbs and I have been on pre op diet for 7 days and I have 7 more days to go but the good news is that I am DOWN 9lbs. SOOO Excited! It's crazy that that is how I have to do lose weight by starving myself, but all in all I'm loving it. I'm very excited baout the surgery, but at the same time with it only being 1 week away I am getting very anxious! I have thought about it for a long time and have tried every diet you can imagine and some worked but as soon as I slip up all the weight that I lose comes right back. IT'S A LOSING BATTLE, that I want to start winning!!!! I have been overweight since a kid and i'm just tired of being the "fat person" and my husband and I want to start having kids in 2 years and I have got to do something before that b/c I want to have HEALTHY BABIES!!! Most of my family has been supportive, but some have not and think I should do it the old fashion way, which I've tried and tried and tried. So I basically told the non-supporting people to save their breaths b/c I'm having this done and NOTHING or NO ONE PERSON will change my mind. I am ready for a CHANGE! I also want to do this and make it look very easy so even though I'm telling my husband how EASY(lie) the liquid diet is....I am soooooooo lying b/c my plan is to have this done and make it look easy b/c I want him to do it. That's right I'm going to trick my husband into surgery but it is only b/c I want him to lose weight and feel good too.

STARTING STATS:

24 years old

5'5

Starting weight 250lbs

1 week after liquid diet 241.6 - 7 more days to go

I will update as much as possible and add a pic soon. I'm really excited about this site b/c if it was not for all the you tube videos and seeing how well some of the people did then I probably would not be doing this now. If I encourage one person to do this then that is my goal! TTYL

I think it's great that you are doing this and not letting anyone tell you differently. Don't let anyone get you down. I think you need to be honest with your husband though. He's going to realize anyway that it won't be easy if he happens to do it. What if he decides not to do it?

Congrats to you! I am on my liquid diet as well. Starting at 160. I had the band for five years. I am getting a revision. Today is my second full day and I want to EAT oh my goodness. I am proud of you for sticking to it 7 days

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
